4.0 out of 5 stars Sweet regency romance with a dash of mystery, July 5 2008

This review is from: Heaven To Touch (Paperback)
Major Nicholas Sharpe has one of the most trying weeks of his life, his brother dies, and he is the ward of his brother's seven children and a woman with amnesia collapses at his family estate.

The Amnesiac, is named Holly by one of the children. She has absolutely no idea who she is and how she braved the English moors. She is beaten and it also appears she was violated too.

Nicholas is stunned at Holly's beauty and compassion. She loves the children and has a sweet nature that is counterpoint to his own dark brooding self. Nicholas was the illegitimate one in the family and has been cruelly rejected not only by society but also by his own family.

Holly is falling in love with Nicholas and his brood. The children are written with just the right amount of humor. I liked them all. The children love Holly and recognize that she loves Nicholas.

When Holly's identity is discovered, everyone, including Holly has to adjust to the news that Holly has a family and a life awaiting her. Nicholas is aware though that danger stalks her and is willing to open himself to heartache to protect her.

This was a finely written novel. Holly was believable in her role as amnesiac and Nicholas's battle with his hurtful past was written with depth. The supporting characters were at times funny but also earnest. The ending was not rushed too. A decidedly nice read.
