Though the tracks of "Musical History", Prince Far I's last completed LP, are weaker than the other three included in this hi-value 4LP+/2CD set, this does not detract from the power of Free from Sin, Jamaican Heroes, and Voice of Thunder, 3 amazing LPs from Michael Williams aka Prince Far I, any one of which is worth the low price of admission to this set. The 3 extra tracks are nice if not necessary. The best thing is the master-tape quality sound of the recordings, as immediate and gripping as the LPs sound. Perfect budget reissue of this material, bringing the music to those who need it. Soon let Trojan re-issue Cry Tuff in Dub Vol. 4, the only remaining Trojan/Far-I LP to see CD issue. Let all Far-I see the Light of Day.

One of the best dub collections you could buy Oct. 8 2004
By Patrick G. Varine - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
Prince Far I is, without a doubt, the best toaster in reggae. Not only for his clever lyrics, spiritual wisdom and references, but especially for the froggy timbre of his voice.

Far I sounds like the Conquering Lion, earning him his nickname, "The Voice of Thunder." That, along with excellent backing rhythms and dubs make for extraordinary listening.

The earlier tracks are my favorites. "Deck of Life" is one of the best reggae songs I've ever heard, with Far I's allusions to a deck of cards reminding him of the Bible. The chants and rhythms work their way into your head and really capture the spirit of dub as a means to religious meditation.

I do not enjoy Christian religious music, but I could listen to this all day and night. RIP, Prince Far I... Jah bless.

Prince Far-I...wow,listening to him is like hearing Jah on Mount Sinai.
Great stuff. I regret having never seen him perform in concert.
It would be a fantastic show.

A Bit Boring Oct. 31 2010
By Sylvester Oakes - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
I hate to be the voice of dissent, but this album was a bit hit-and-miss for me. I just couldn't get into some of the tracks, and it gets a bit repetitious. This album did not stand up to repeated listening for me. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed some of the tracks, and the instrumentation is quite good (hence three stars).
