This book is full of fun ideas to make. Note that most of the items are candy you purchase in the store not fondant, which is why I like it so much. I don't like the taste of fondant and the kids love eating all the candy!

I've had this book in my collection, unread, for awhile and went into it to find out how to make the furry icing shown on the cover. I was taken aback to find that all of the cupcakes had been iced with plastic bags. Any further embellishments had been purchased from a store. As an in-training, very enthusiastic amateur cake decorator, I was disappointed with its "buy a bunch of stuff from the store and stick it on a cupcake" philosophy. Not even a tip-conversion chart to assist. I refuse to contribute an untold number of plastic bags to the landfill with my "mistakes". Credit where it's due, the design ideas are very good and the execution near-flawless. I just think that kitchen amateurs and serious decorators alike will be disappointed because although beautiful and entertaining to look at,the book is neither instructive nor helpful.

I just tried two of the ideas in this book and they both turned out great. I made the spaghetti and meatballs and the tv dinner. I had no trouble creating my masterpieces--they look complicated, but the directions in this book were easy to follow and I was finished in no time. I was amazed at my results. I have no cake decorating skills at all, but this book gave me the confidence to give it a try and I'm glad I did.

There are lots of different ideas in the book, to copy and to inspire. The supplies required are basic, no fancy cake decorating tools needed. Brand name suggestions are given for each candy shown and it was easy to find everything I needed at my local bulk food store. There are recipes for cupcakes and frosting included in the back of the book, although you can just as easily go with cake mix and canned icing.

I highly recommend this book. Its simple instructions and amazing ideas will help you easily create an amazing dessert to serve to your friends and family.
