This album, along with the album "On Borrowed Time" by The Illuminati is not only one of the two best rock albums to come out of Canada in the last decade, but out of North America, period.

The songs are hard hitting and catchy (they were a great pick to be included in Guitar Hero III). They have set the bar very high for their follow up album.

To be honest i haven't heard this album in its entirety yet, however, i have heard about 75% of it and i have to admit i am extremely impressed and excited on what this band is bringing to the table. The only other band that has gotten me this excited since the late 80's has been the new Wolfmother album, Also an insane retro style hard rock album with a hard driving new twist. The influences are instantly noticeable as the reviewer mentions, however its how Priestess uses these influences and then puts their own stamp on it thats makes this album shine. This band has a live sound to them even though the album was recorded in the studio. This is the same sense you get when you listen to the new Wolfmother album as well, its not 100% clean its edgy and gritty and makes you want to just scream and stomp. If you are into the new trend of hard driving retro guitar riff driven rock you will LOVE this album as i do. What was once old is new and fresh again thanks to bands like Priestess and Wolfmother who have perfected in taking classic influences and altering them to fit a new and emerging music scene. I hope more bands like these emerge and endure because like most people i have become completly drunk and ill off of pop rock cookie cutter groups.

This machine - called Priestess, rocks harder, is more melodic and definitely smarter than any band out there!
Young, likeable frontman, Mikey Heppner has more genuine presence than any experienced shriv out there - hey, he LIKES his job!
Talk To Her will be a classic - but Lay Down (contrast deluxe) and Time Will Cut You Down deserve serious consideration - as do all the tracks.
These boys are pros. Can you imagine what is next?
