5.0 out of 5 stars Mother of God. Oct 29 2012
Format:Blu-ray|Amazon Verified Purchase
All I can say, is I am quite a fan of the Hellsing Series. When I heard about this product coming out. It was one of those "shut up and take my money" scenarios, and I was quite impressed with my purchase. For starters I didn't realize that this is a combo pack I thought it was only regular Blu-Ray, which is an added bonus. The extra 200 minutes it comes with is worth spending the extra. To see the uncut footage and trailers was even better.

When my product arrived it was snowing up here in Northern Canada, so I thought this was going to be one of these scenarios, where I'm going to have water damage to no ends. I was wrong. When I awoke, I checked my mail and the package was in my mailbox and the lid was partially closed but it was placed so that it wouldn't receive damage from snow, water or the rain that was coming down so that was even better. Thank you, postal service!

Upon opening my Amazon package, everything was tightly sealed and in mint condition. No water damage, nor any visual appearances. After opening and smelling the new movie / game smell. I first popped it into my laptop that has a Blue Ray player and it worked like a charm. After marathoning the Blue Ray on my laptop, I decided to switch on my PS3 and use both the DVD and Blue Ray's and yes I did notice a difference and it still ran like a charm with no hiccups.

Vise-Versa I did the same thing with my laptop and no hiccups.

My only grief or negative comment is being far up North in Canada for the amount I spent to get it up here. Meaning I didn't have to go around town only for local stores to tell me that they don't sell or carry it. The shipping can be tad expensive if you decide you can't wait and pay the extra, but for something like this I'm willing to.

Secondly I also noticed some Amazon products do come Cash On Demand scenarios, same with Ebay or practically anything purchased online being shipped from the states. Not everyone, but it would be nice to know the charge when someone is dropping it at the door leaving a tag saying to come pick up.

Not going to the local post office and them saying basically we need X amount before we can give you you're product and this is more for the people that can't pay this Cash On Demand charge. As to why they never leave the charge there I will never know....

So in conclusion I was mind blown in the quality of work and the remastered edition. Just like Johnny Cash, covering "Hurt" which was made by Nine Inch Nails. My mind was blown. Another extra product from Amazon and I will be still continuing business with them despite that shipping can be tad expensive. Take care and happy marathoning anime!

Christopher Pord.

4.0 out of 5 stars "Search and destroy! SEARCH AND DESTROY!!" Jan 25 2013
Format:Blu-ray
Having received this for Christmas, it was a great Christmas present. It came in mint condition, though I got a bit of a scare at first when I saw the Blu-Ray logo (having never bought or been given a Blu-Ray/DVD combo pack before), but was relieved when both the DVDs AND the Blu-Rays were contained within this conveniently-sized package. The box art is nice on the inside and outside and no DVDs were loose or damaged. The box is near-flawless with easy access to the DVDs. The English dub cast is among the greatest I've ever heard, rivaling even Cowboy Bebop and Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood's flawless dub casts. Watching Alucard slaughtering ghouls and humans in all his brutal glory (and having a fun time doing so) only immensely adds to the enjoyment I've experienced with the first four volumes of this series. Almost all of the characters are likeable and Alucard and the Major are always amusing and entertaining to watch and listen to. Hell, Alucard's maniacal laughter is contagious!
My only complaints are the first two episodes' rushed feeling and that one blue guy's (you know, the one with the ring piercings in his face who assisted his brother with the attack on the Hellsing Headquarters in episode 2) extremely annoying dialogue and presence. Other than those minor complaints I still consider this a must-buy and a must-see, but not for the light-hearted as this is considered one of the goriest anime series of all time. VERY enjoyable and VERY good quality picture, sound, and animation. I can't wait to buy Vols 5-8.

5.0 out of 5 stars Hellsing Ultimate is finally back on the U.S. Market. Aug 5 2012
By Ayoub I. Kaileh - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Blu-ray
Hellsing Ultimate is an OVA reboot, that follows the manga more precisely as opposed to the 2001 TV Series, the art style of the show is also more faithful to the manga and none of the violence is toned down like the original was. Don't get me wrong the original TV series was bloody and brual, but its not as graphic and detailed as this new OVA. For example in the OVA they go as far to show chunks of flesh and brain splattering on the walls and people being decapitated and there intestines being ripped out. This series started in 2006 and is still ongoing, so far 9 OVA's have been released in japan, each are approximately 45-50 minutes long. In December of 2006 Geneon had begun releasing this series in the U.S., but unfortunately they went under on December 2007 and only 4 OVA's had been released at that time and so only 4 were dubbed. Then along came Funimation who announced that they have acquired Hellsing Ultimate OVA's 1-7 at Anime Expo 2010. Due to the fact that Geneon had started merging with Universal entertainment Japan that same year, because of this merging process, Funimation wasn't able to begin dubbing the new episodes and so it was put on hold. At the same time in 2011 they also acquired OVA #8. The merging process is now over with and Funimation can start releasing these OVA's at a good price( check on amazon and ebay, the sellers on there are selling this series for a ridiculous price, as much as $70 for one episode). Keep in mind that these are re-releases and they will started releasing dubbed/subbed episodes of OVA's 5-8 after this set comes out on October 16, 2012(the perfect anime to watch around Halloween). This set comes with both a Blu-ray copy and as well as a DVD copy. It'll have both the fantastic English dub and Japanese with subtitles. To wrap things up, I highly recommend that you check out another great reliable website called Rightstuf.com, they are selling it for an even more lower price than amazon for $35.99 and plus due to the fact that they are one of Funimation's distributors you'll get the boxset up to 3 weeks earlier than the release date, if you decide to preorder it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Dub Ever! Sep 5 2012
By Ryjacork - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Blu-ray
Theres a lot of stigma floating around out there that dubs are basically trash and all "real" anime fans only watch subs. While I dont neccisarily agree with this, I have started to latley feel as though Japanese voice actors are for the most part superior. Not in every anime, but usually the original Japanese voices just seem more natural to me.

Hellsing however is the one anime where the english dub absolutley blows the japanese voice cast out of the water. Not that there arent superior english dubs out there, but Hellsing is the only one Ive seen that goes absolutlet uncontested. Crispin Freeman is incredible as Alucard (between him and Morgan people with the last name Freeman just seem to have awesome voices).

Steven Brand also did an exellent job as Alexander Anderson. But really I want to praise the whole cast, particularly those who worked with accents and different ethnicities. Whether its British, Itallian, German, french, or Irish, the whole cast handled them very well.

As far as the anime itself goes Ill just say that its amazing, Ultimate Hellsing is the standard I hold all anime reboots to now. Its exactly what the fans wanted and what the series deserved. The animeation is incredible, the action scenes are breathtaking, and they actually included a lot fo the comic relief that was left out of the original anime.

Shit not only is Ultimate Hellsing better than the original anime, it might be better than the manga. The cast is just that good.

Anyway this is a great anime, and five stars just arent enough. And btw this is a great price for a dvd/blu ray combo, especially since anime is usually pretty expensive.

5.0 out of 5 stars An incredible amount of content Oct 12 2012
By Mo - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Blu-ray
This is a fantastic release of a great show. There are 3 DVDs and 2 Blu-rays in the case. The first blu-ray has the 4 OVA's and the 2nd disc has all of the extras (didn't bother to check the DVD's). These are the remastered episodes that were released in japan and they look great, but there is some inconsistency. For those that aren't into horror anime, which is the case for me, this show doesn't display a feel bad horror. If you are squeamish though, I urge you to get over that and force yourself to watch the show. These first 4 volumes aren't really that excellent. I would give them a 9/10, it's the rest of the series that I would give an easy 10/10. I find the first volume to be kind of slow, the second to be the only perfect one of these 4, and the other 2 to be kind of dragged on. Each volume does hold a redeemable moment for me though, so they may please you greatly at some points.
