The Bookschlepper Recommends Feb. 4 2013
By Jean Sue Libkind - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Hardcover Verified Purchase
Royal Watchers should be advised that this gorgeous book emphasizes the Queen's reign up to the Silver Jubilee (1977); more recent color plates and a brief synopsis of the last 35 years has been appended. It is still a must-have for any collection. Taschen always does a fine printing job although I am terribly bothered by the designer's decision to use a silver ink and small type, almost unreadable on the glossy stock. I've been following the Queen since the Coronation so many of these photos are quite familiar but there were several that were new to me. Still, a large reproduction of some of Beaton's finest is always welcome. Other notable photographers are also included along with some listed as "anonymous"--from the press pool.

There is nothing to dislike about this magnificent book. It is a MUST in anyone's library: British or otherwise. I highly recommend this book to be enjoyed for many years and to be passed down to one's heirs.

FABULOUS - a book everyone loving the Queen gotta get. The size alone is impressive and guaranteed the biggest one ever on HM.

Huge Disappointment Dec 29 2012
By R.S. - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Hardcover Verified Purchase
And huge is the operative word. The book weighs 10.5 pounds and measures 16" by 12", really the size of 2 coffee table books. It's uncomfortable to hold closed and even more so when opened precariously on one's lap. It is so huge that It comes with it's own briefcase box with handle. I'm sure it won't fit on most bookshelves. More importantly, the subject and placement of the photographs is the biggest (already discussed how big the book is) disappointment. Most of the photos selected are boring and less than representative of her majesty's reign. Some of the photos are actually blurred images. Some of the double-page photos are placed so that the Queen or the subject of the photo is in the crease of the book, leaving the actual pages showing only photo-filler. Given a choice again, I would not have purchased this book.

The Queen's Beauty Feb. 22 2013
By Leigh Bye - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Hardcover
I'd have to say this is one of my favorite recent purchases. Anything London and the Royal Family related is a must for me. I first bought Taschen's London book which led me to buying this one. So glad I did...the queen is beautiful and seeing these personal and intimate photographs of her and throughout her life is very fascinating. Like some of the other reviews, the book is on the heavier side, but that is one of the great characteristics! The aesthetics inside and out are well put together. What a great value for the number of photographs and the quality of the book. If I wanted a small light weight book to keep in my bag I'd pick a different book, but it just wouldn't be the same. I keep my copy right in my living room and have received so many compliments since my purchase. Overall, a purchase I don't regret!
