The Bridesmaid's Proposal by Rebecca Winters

Due to her Aunt, Reese had been enjoying a two-year run on a very popular soap opera, playing her Aunt's daughter on the show. But her aunt has passed away, and Reese is finding it ever more difficult playing her part as she is in love with Alex, the man who is playing her lover on the show. She's knows that Alex is in love with a mysterious woman and that though he's fond of her, he really isn't interested in her that way. So on the last day of taping the script calls for Reese's character to spontaneously ask Alex's character to marry him just as they are about to enter the Church for Alex's characters father. The scene runs with the two characters saying their vows and signing the licenses. When it's over Reese endures her goodbye party, and is taken totally by surprise when Alex kisses her very passionately. She's confused, was that kiss in character or for real; it sure was real on her part!

This story didn't suffer because of page count. Ms. Winters did a great job of creating two wonderful main characters. The wedding scene was very well done. The switch Alex had pulled off seemed a bit over the top, but this is a romance and I'm willing to go with the flow on this one. I enjoyed this one very much.

The Billionaire's Blind Date by Jessica Hart

Nell and PJ had been a couple in high school and became engaged when PJ, a year older went off to college. And when Nell went off to college too, it seemed they were drifting apart. Nell wanted to get married and start a family; PJ wanted to establish himself a bit first. So when Simon came along, he was gorgeous and charming and wanted to give Nell everything she wanted, she was swept off her feet. Well, it's 14 years later, and Nell's divorced raising her 10 year old daughter, Clara, alone. PJ's spent much of the last years in the US and he's now very successful and made his billions. PJ's back in the London, and Nell's sister is insisting that she get in tough with him, ditto for PJ's sister. Neither is sure they want to open old wounds. But one very eventful day it seems that the fates have their own ideas for these two.

Oh this was a lovely read. I really liked the way Ms. Hart blended the back story in with the present. We get to see both PJ and Nell's inner turmoil and regrets for the past. I found it charming that both felt all tongued tied and yet to the other they appeared all put together and assured. This tiny story reads long. Well done!
