3.0 out of 5 stars Swan Lake or Swan Song April 9 2006
Format:Paperback
This story follows the main character through two periods in her life. In the 50's we meet Hester as an ill treated and much ignored child who finds solace and excellence in the world of ballet. In the 1980's we meet again as she hosts a company of dancers at the estate where she spent much of her childhood under the guidance of the grand Madame Olga. The story though not badly written never lets us into the inner workings of Hester enough to truly care about her. Halfway through the book it became so predictable that I sort of boureed my way to the end. Not a bad read but not the kind that sticks with you or invites you back to visit.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sublime... The tale of a Prima Ballerina! Aug 14 2006
By Guillermo Amaro - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Hardcover
It's emotional, touching, and strong. Hester's Story is a book I'll never forget. It's private world of International Ballet brings very seductive, colorful, and spellbinding characters to the table and we can enjoy each page with devotion and an open heart.

Geras, tells us Hester's story through the eyes of the children and the adults with such ease and tenderness that the end result is to go buy her first novel if you still haven't read it (such is my case, I will order it ASAP) but it also takes you to your own depths and you feel for Hester; you feel her surprises and her falls, you feel her own mind at work. It's an exceptional novel. I recommend you embrace silent corners when reading this book since the smallest sounds may become annoying once you are wrapped up in the story and the stories within it.

A superb read!
5.0 out of 5 stars Ballet world bliss! Sep 19 2011
By Cherry Radford - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
A captivating read for romantics, and anyone fascinated with ballet dancers will have an absolute BALL - she gets right under (and on!) their skin. Unusually for me, I sort of guessed the denouement quite early on - but this didn't spoil my enjoyment at all. Couldn't put it down. Loved it. Sequel, please!
