I recommend this book for baby shower gifts. Before Easter, I found cute, yellow ducks among all the stuffed bunnies and chickens. I bought several ducks so I could give one with each book. This book, with its beautiful and delightful illustrations, can easily be among the first books read to the child. The rhyming dialgogue makes it fun to read aloud. (I think the cat MUST have a French accent!) My grandson (7 months old) stops crying to listen to this book. Everyone around my house has read it so much that it's a common quip now to say, "Hey, Duck! Don't get your tail feathers up!" The story is easy to follow: An energetic and overly friendly duck wants to befriend a snarly cat. Duck expects Cat to be just like him, and Cat just wants to be left alone. Of course, they become good friends by the end.
