Product Description

About the Author

Steven M. Barrett paid his first visit to Disney World in the late 1980s, after attending a medical conference in Orlando. He immediately fell under its spell, visiting it twice yearly with family and friends for the next several years, offering touring advice to the less initiated, and reading almost everything written about the WDW theme parks. When a job in his field of emergency medicine opened up not far from WDW in 1998, Barrett, a Texas native, Air Force veteran, and former Oklahoma City medical professor, relocated to the Orlando area from Houston, Texas. He began visiting the WDW parks every chance he got to enjoy the attractions, sample the restaurants, and escort visiting friends and relatives. Eventually, their feedback made him realize he had better advice on touring the parks than they could get anywhere else. So he wrote the guidebook The Hassle-Free Walt Disney World Vacation, which includes customized, flexible touring plans for adults and teens, families with younger children, and seniors, along with lots of insider tips gleaned from his almost weekly visits to WDW. His interest in Hidden Mickeys led him to take pen in hand once again. This book, now in it's fourth edition, is the result. --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

Looking for something extra special to do while at WDW? If you thought standing in line or walking around wasn't much fun, or thought you've seen everything there is to see, then pick up this book! The Hidden Mickeys book is a great way to help pass the time, as well as add another dimension to the trip! I never knew there were Mickeys hidden everywhere from rides, to hotels, to even rest rooms! Now I find myself looking for them everywhere!
The book is great because it is not just a list, but arranged like a "scavenger hunt." You can play alone or with family and friends to try and spot all the hidden Mickeys! Some are harder than others, so it can be quite a challenge! (Don't worry, the author gives great clues in order to help you find them). If you don't want to do the hunts, you can just pull out the book and find HMs for wherever you may be in the parks!
Steve really knows his WDW, and this book shows it! And my kids enjoyed the book as much as we did!! Plus, the book's compact size allows you to keep it in you back pocket or bag (great idea) to easily carry it around all day without being too cumbersome! You don't have to be a Disney expert to enjoy this book! Highly recommended!!!

If you think there's nothing to do at Disney World except ride the same old rides and stand in the same old lines then author Steven Barrett has a surprise for you. It seems that all around Disney World there are lots of "hidden" Mickeys. From classic front profiles to side profiles they are everywhere. For example, one of the ones you would never suspect is the shadow cast on the ground from the railing in front of Cinderellas's castle. Hidden in maps, shadows, well placed stones, or even table settings, once you get the hang of it you are sure to find lots of them. Some of the ones in the book are a bit of a stretch and others are obvious once you know it. Once you start looking for them you wonder why you've never noticed things the place setting in the Haunted Mansion that makes a classic Mickey with the dinner dish and two side dishes for ears. I even found a couple that were pretty easy to spot but not in the book (like a key against the wall in Mickey's House).
Not only is the book a great guide on finding the hidden Mickeys but if you follow the suggested itinerary it really minimizes the wait times in line. Mr. Barrett has done an excellent job of suggesting how to go from ride to ride and the book is well worth the price just for that information. We waited only 20 minutes in the longest line and generally waited less than ten.
In summary, it is a great twist on visiting Disney World, Epcot, MGM Studios, Animal Kingdom and other Disney attractions and a recommended purchase for anyone heading to a Florida Disney location.

This interesting handy-sized 4" x 9" book of 160 pages covers all aspects of WDW. The whole family will want to look for all of the "hidden" Mickeys spread all over WDW. They're virtually everywhere. Scavenger Hunts throughout the book offer clues to finding the hidden Mickeys. Special hints are provided to help you in the scavenger hunts. It can keep the kids busy and you don't have to spend money while your "hunting." Its a fun guide that you'll enjoy each time you visit WDW. We'll take ours everytime we visit Orlando. This book covers not only the parks, but also hotels, restaurants, shops and more. You'll notice many of these for the first time, even if you have visited WDW many times. Worth the low cost.

If you or your kids love "I Spy," then this book's for you. We just returned from a family vacation to Walt Disney World where we used both the "Hassle-Free Walt Disney World Vacation" and "Hidden Mickeys" books. Both were invaluable to maximizing our enjoyment during our trip. I don't know who had more fun spotting the hidden Mickeys...me, my husband, or our two sons, ages 9 and 11. The competition was on with our 9 year old beating out the rest of us. You can use the book to either go on a hunt using clues to find the Mickeys or take the easy way out and just follow the author's directions. In all, it is an extremely clever and fun book. Definitely worth the buy.

Cute format. Cute Book. Now, if only half of them where actual Hidden Mickeys it would be a good book. Ex. The 3 in Spaceship Earth is not a hidden Mickey it is a 3. The imagineers when they create a hidden mickey, they try not to do hidden pieces of of Mickey. They only real piece of Mickey, I can confirm is his shoes at the Great Movie Ride. How do I know this is incorrect? I am a cast member who teaches programs all over the parks. I know what is real and what isn't. Remember, this book is not written by Disney Imagineer, it is written by someone who has visit the parks a bunch of times. This book is not offical.

This book is a good start to your Hidden Mickey adventure, but leaves much to be desired. A large portion of the book is based off the authors scavangers hunts. While these are neat, they leave the book with an unorganized feeling. The narrow size of the book is handy for sticking in your back pocket, but is hard to keep open and read. The books states you can find "nearly 400 Hidden Mickey's". Most Hidden Mickey fans know there are several hundred in each park alone. One thing I expected to see were pictures. There are no pictures in this book of Hidden Mickey's. A few examples would have been nice.
