About the Author
Kim Baldwin has been a writer for three decades, following up twenty years as an Emmy-winning network news executive with a second vocation penning lesbian fiction. In addition to her Elite Operatives collaborative efforts with Xenia Alexiou, she has published several solo novels with Bold Strokes Books. She is a five-time Golden Crown Literary Society finalist—winning in Romantic Suspense, a 2010 Independent Publisher Book Award Silver Medalist, a five-time Lesbian Fiction Readers’ Choice Award winner, and the recipient of a 2008 Alice B. Reader Appreciation Award for her body of work. In 2010, she recorded an audiobook of Breaking the Ice. She has also contributed short stories to multiple BSB anthologies. She lives in the north woods of Michigan.

Splendid Alaska adventure, Dec 4 2011

Next best thing to travelling to Alaska is to pick up one of Kim Baldwin's Alaska adventures (Breaking the Ice and Whitewater Rendevous are two more Alaska situated books): made me want to book a flight immediately. The love for this raw and awesome piece of the world shines through every page of this book. Add to that great characters, some romance, lots of adventures and - if you read the first two books situated in Alaska - meeting with favourite characters of previous books and you have a very attractive package deal well worth a five star review. And BTW the book sparkles with penmanship and is a joy to read. Though a stand alone it is well worth to read Breaking the Ice and Whitewater Rendevous first ... or you will when you have finished High Impact. And I loved the new spin Kim gave the old adage "love heals all". Well done!

I have always liked Ms. Baldwin's books, this is no exception. The only reason for not a 5, it stretched a bit too much, for me, beyond my imagination of 'faith healing'. Don't get me wrong, this book is down to earth in scenery, the very beautify way Ms. Baldwin describes Alaska (just made my bucket list for a place to visit), and her way to bring characters to life (loved the way she brought old friend from other books back in away to continue to build on them, didn't just 'touch' on them but continued to build on their own relationships). She brought a story of healing and adventure together that made me want to just continue to read and read (way past my bedtime). Thank you again Ms. Baldwin from a fellow Michigan residence, look forward to more, and hey how about somthing based in Michigan even the UP would be great <smile>.

Courier Emery Lawson has had one near death experience too many. On her recovery she decides enough is enough. She gives up her job and decides to live her life to the full. She is going to travel the world. Part of Emery's itinerary involves a trip to Alaska. On her arrival, Emery finds herself becoming part of a close knit group of friends. What Emery didn't expect to find, was true love.Pasha Dunn works for an adventure company. She has an uncanny intuition that kicks in every so often. Her intuition goes off the scale just prior to Emery's arrival. Pasha has no idea why. When it becomes apparent that according to her intuition, Emery is Pasha's soul mate, Pasha is dismayed. Emery is not relationship material. In fact, it appears that Emery's lifestyle is beyond Pasha's liking or understanding. Will there be a chance of love for Emery and Pasha? For that to happen, one or both of them will have to change.
Emery is booked on to a trip out and Pasha is one of the guides. The two women become closer. But Pasha is all too aware that Emery will leave soon to continue with the rest of her world tour.
Their situation comes to a head when a terrible accident forces them both to take a look at their lives. Will Emery and Pasha survive the accident? Will Pasha's intuition be right? Is Emery her soul mate? Will Emery see what is in front of her?
This is another winning book from Kim Baldwin. A fantastic mix of adventure and romance. The story is a well written page turner. It was great to see characters from Kim's previous books set in Alaska. Old friends and new friends meeting together for a new adventure. This is a standalone book. But you wouldn't want to miss any books Kim has written. I look forward to Kim's next book eagerly.
