Michael Haynes has recently hiked all of the trails contained in the book and has received permission to include those found on private property. Included are trails that will challenge the most serious of hikers as well as gentle excursions suitable for family outings.

About the Author

Michael Haynes is the author of Hiking Trails of Nova Scotia, Seventh Edition (1995), Hiking Trails of Cape Breton (1999), and most recently, Trails of the Halifax Regional Municipality (2000). He has been a regular contributor to CBC Halifax and CBC Sydney’s Information Morning radio programs for the past eight years. He has hiked in almost every province in Canada and several countries in Europe.

Great collection of trails. We want to get out and use this book as a checklist and walk as many as we can in the spring, summer, and fall!

This book gives wonderful descriptions of some of the hiking trails in Nova Scotia. Be warned though that the author has made some errors in place names and directions to get to some of the trails.

On page 161 of the above mentioned book Mr Haynes describes The Queensport Road hiking trail. Mr Haynes missed an important feature of this trail as if passes through a WW11 RCAF radar site. I have done research on this site and a web site exists with those findings. Perhaps Mr Haynes would like to learn more.
