The case does what it is supposed to do and colors are cool. The iPad fits snugly and secure. Looks like it was made for the iPad. The problem is that the design has a ridge at the base of the keyboard that I find awkward. Maybe it is because of my clunky typing position but my thumbs keep getting hooked on the ridge and I cannot type effectively. I also find that the keyboard response is not great and that you have to type hard to get the keys to strike. Could be great but needs improvement. I returned the item and ordered a Logitech Ultralight Wireless keyboard. Review on that later.

Great case, good keyboard Feb. 3 2012
By Jonah Winters - Published on Amazon.com
The review above saying it wasn't what they ordered is probably the result of them receiving the wrong product, maybe a mistake on Amazon's end. I have this keyboard, exactly the one pictured, and am typing on it now.

This is a snazzy product with an insane battery life. It makes a good stand for the ipad, is a sturdy case and cover, and has lots of useful ipad-specific function keys, e.g. brightness, home screen, volume, etc, so you don't have to use finger gestures to do these things. It also looks nice, solid and bright aluminum, feels lightweight but sturdy, and charges and connects to the ipad quickly. (You have to charge it by a USB port on another computer, but the battery lasts so long you don't have to charge it often.)

BUT, as a keyboard it kinda sucks. It's just the wrong shape for typing a lot on. If you're just typing small amounts or need a backup keyboard for travel, or aren't a touch-typist, it's probably ideal. But if you're a power typist who is used to a raised/angled keyboard, sufficient space between the keys, and your fingers expect the keys to be in certain places, you'll find it cumbersome. For example, the right side of the top row (i o p) is squished off to the left to fit, so I keep hitting the bracket keys instead. And you have to hold your wrists in an awkward angle to reach the keys and get over the lower lip of the case, and the right shift key is tiny, etc.

In sum, an excellent product for everyone save those few of us who have to do large amounts of fast touch-typing. For us, the traditional Apple wireless keyboard is best.

Bluetooth keyboard May 19 2012

The Hip Street bluetooth keyboard/case for iPad excels as a case and as a lap-stand. As a keyboard it only has value if you are using it on a flat surface like a desk or table. Almost impossible to utilize the keyboard in your lap, although, as aforementioned, it works fine for a lap stand. Plus, it needs to be kept charged and brings another cord to get tangled in your cord drawer and another responsibility to deal with. Bottom line: if you want a solid, hard case and a lap stand, or if you want to do extensive typing from a flat surface, the article is great.

Looks good, fits well, but cramped keyboard Oct. 23 2012
By Tom Hoefer - Published on Amazon.com
Regarding the Hipstreet iPad 3rd Generation/iPad 2 Bluetooth Keyboard Case, I also agree with another reviewer that the keyboard is awkward to use. I just purchased the unit, and love its look and fit to the ipad. But typing is a problem particularly with the right hand where I keep hitting the up arrow when I want to hit the shift key, and I can't reach the letter 'o' key without twisting my wrist. I also have a Belkin folio case and it is a much more comfortable keyboard to use, although the folio adds thickness and weight. Oh well, guess I will have to wait for perfection to arrive.

Broke Easily Feb. 3 2013

I was surprised this color was less expensive than the others, but I like the metallic hue. The only complaint I have is that when typing, the first letter often does not appear, but other than that, I use it all the time--more than my MAC. It went well, but suddenly stopped working. The port used to charge it came loose and it no longer charges--at all. I wound up throwing the entire thing away, which is very disapointing because it wasn't too cheap. Sad.

Works, but very lightweight April 26 2013

It does what's it's supposed to (so far) but it's so light weight I am wondering how long it will last. It doesn't have enough weight to support itself using the tablet in portrait layout (flips backwards) and even in landscape, it's very delicately balanced; doesn't take much for it to fall backwards.
It's handy though and works as a hard case as well. I like the function of it, just question the quality - which I will update when I've used it longer. I needs some counterweight in the front as well to make it more stable.
