4.0 out of 5 stars Quite an adventure, April 6 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Hired Hero (Paperback)
For those who think Regency romance is all drawing-room comedy, this book will come as a pleasant surprise. The heroine, Lady Caroline Talcott, faced grave danger as she undertook to deliver an important military missive to London. She stumbled into the estate of the Earl of Davenport, who, impovished through his dead twin brother's profligacy, allowed himself to be hired to accompany her on the trip. The dauntless Caroline and Julian, the gruff reluctant hero, make a very nice couple, but of course it took them almost all the way to figure it out themselves. A solid , entertaining read.

5.0 out of 5 stars Ready, Set, GO!, Dec 3 2011
By L. B. Taylor - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Hired Hero (Paperback)
Here is another great Andrea Picken's Regency romance! Don't be put off by the look of the cover's hero, just start at Chapter One. Julian Atherton, the new Earl of Davenport, has just rescued Lady Caroline Talcott. She has a secret and must deliver it safely to London. Julian has a title but little monies to improve his estate. Caroline makes a deal with him; he protects and delivers her to London safely and she'll make sure he receives a large monetary reward. And off they go!

Chemistry? Check. Humor? Check. A plot that moves along? Check. She plants a fist in his face, vomits on his shirt, steals his horse, calls him names, and he risks his life for hers over and over again. There is even an element of some spicy romance- fairly unusual for an Signet Regency romance. The tension between the two is there but will they finally share their true feelings with each other? Read the book and find out.
