Product Description

2008 collection from the '60s Pop/Rock quintet, their only official 'hits' compilation available on the market for over a decade. Before The Rolling Stones, The Dave Clark Five were seen as being The Beatles most serious rivals. With their hit 'Glad All Over' knocking 'I Want to Hold Your Hand' off the number one spot. DC5's own unique brand of music sold in excess of 100 million records. They were the first English group to tour the United States, spearheading the British Invasion. During their first two years in the U.S., they scored no less than fifteen consecutive Top 20 hits, more than anyone except The Beatles. They took the world by storm and helped change the Rock scene, blasting hit after hit over the world's radio airwaves. Universal.

4.0 out of 5 stars *sigh* Another Greatest Hits compilation Feb. 13 2011
By Robert Badgley TOP 500 REVIEWER
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
This is the 2008 CD release of the The Dave Clark Five's greatest hits package from Universal Music, issued after their induction into the R&R Hall of Fame. It's official title is "The Dave Clark Five-The Hits".Below this title are the words"The DC5 sold over 100 million records".This single CD has an outer embossed cover and the CD inside comes with a thick 26 page booklet in a clear plastic jewel case. What I found strange is that neither the outer cover nor the CD itself were plastic wrapped.
The songs have been remastered and the sound is as one would expect, very good. The booklet I referred to is jammed packed with photos of the boys, some seen before and others only their really old fans will recall.Dave has taken a more personal approach with this booklet(as compared to the 90s releases)and written some of the notes which echo his sentiments relayed during the groups Hall of Fame induction. The info I especially like is that some of the historical context of the groups place in the musical scene of the 60s is finally starting to be truthfully told.As a fan since day one I have seen their rep be torn apart and scattered over the R&R landscape without so much as a "sorry".As the booklet relates they were, for the longest time, the only real contenders the Beatles ever had on the charts and that includes groups like the Stones, the Who,the Animals,et al,who have been wrongly overshadowing the DC5 in rep for decades. In fact the DC5 are rarely mentioned as serious contenders of the era,if at all.Having lived and grown up through that era I can tell you the exact opposite is true.

I love this cd, unfortunately I had to send it back as it skips on 5 tracks. I bought it used through an outside seller on Amazon. There was no replacement and my money was refunded. I would buy this again. It has all their hits and some that I didn't realize that they had done. Well worth buying

Tough to get, but soooo worth it...great CD, great service! This was one under rated group that should be in every collector of 60's music.
