5.0 out of 5 stars Satisfying and Lovable While Heartbreaking, Jan 2 2012
By Jade Zsiros - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Rogue (Hardcover)
I'm a female high school AP student. Yeah, I know. It says this is a book for boys between 9 and 12, but all of my friends are in the same condition.

I'm saying this now because this is the second point in the saga where things get just a little bit darker, and I even spotted a few mature comments here and there.

Pros:
1. Almost the entire book was narrated by Laura. As she is my favorite character, I liked how she finally got to play a significant role past "the girl down the hall with the pretty green eyes."
2. Humor. You can always count on Mr. Walden for it.
3. There is a point in the book where Wing confronts Otto and Otto has no recollection of his best friend. I cried at this part. It was rather moving, even in the presence of the cheese that comes with all volumes in this series.
4. Professor Pike. Because Laura is his favorite student, and Laura is the narrator, we see a lot more of him. And it's hilarious.
5. The end. Holy cow. Spoiler Alert: Wing is pointing a gun at his father, who is pointing a gun at Otto, who is pointing a gun at Wing, but in the end Laura shoots the albino kid!

Cons:
1. Lucy Dexter. Mr. Walden makes a few attempts to make us like her more. They didn't work on me.
2. The last sentence. Could we get any more cheesy?
3. The guy who is pretending to be a large, red robot. I'm working very hard not to spoil this. But anyways, I thought at first that the death, rebirth, death, rebirth thing was getting a little tiring, but then i remembered the very very very end of book 3, and realized it was necessary.

In short, this is the best volume in the series yet. Read it. Read it. Read it. Rea... you get my point.

My daughter loves this series. She has been dying to read the latest ones. So nice to find someone selling the British copies so she can read them months earlier. Thanks!
The books arrived in pristine condition and quickly.
