Four charming English teenagers on a ramble in northern Italy are befriended on a train by a kindly Italian gentleman. When he's brutally attacked, the young people are drawn into searching for the unknown assailant. Eva Haddon does a wonderful job delineating the various characters and reading the sublime, pastoral descriptions. The suspense builds, and the listener is drawn into the story until the solution is found. The musical introduction and coda enhance the thrilling atmosphere of the story. M.M.
