Product Description

From USA Today bestselling author Connie Shelton a light, charming holiday mystery novella, complete with lots of special Southwestern Christmas traditions. Bonus: two of the recipes featured in the story.

It's a New Mexico Christmas. The lights are strung, the luminarias are set along the sidewalks. Treats are abundant and Charlie Parker is getting ready for her mother-in-law's holiday visit. But there is trouble in the neighborhood and when death shows up--right next door--Charlie's bright, festive plans suddenly take a turn for the dark. Get in the spirit with this holiday novella.

"A Charlie Parker mystery is always a good read." --Southwest Book Views

"Connie Shelton does a fantastic job of interweaving various New Mexico locales and cultures into the plot so that the state feels like the land of enchantment." Harriet Klausner, online reviewer

About the Author

Connie Shelton grew up with fond memories of New Mexico Christmas traditions. When she was asked by her editor to write this novella-length Charlie Parker story, she found a way to weave those traditions (and a few fictional ones) into a new whodunit mystery. She and her husband live in northern New Mexico with their two dogs.

HASH(0x9f206120) out of 5 stars Too Short May 29 2010

I didn't realize this book was a novella when I bought it on Kindle, so I was disappointed at its brevity. It's your typical Charlie Parker story--light & entertaining, but it ends abruptly. Possibly could have been developed into a full length book.

HASH(0x9f275e58) out of 5 stars A Charming Chistmas Read July 11 2011
By Brian Jackson - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition
Charlie, Drake, and Rusty are back in a charming Christmas read. I love the holidays, and nothing is better than a holiday cozy. If you liked the other Charlie Parker books than this is a must read. Decorating the yard, visits from inlaws, and even red and green chili sauce are all part of the New Mexico traditions that add layers of texture to this tale. And these's also a murder, of course. Hey, it's the summer, but this story made me feel the chill in the air that signals the start of the holidays. I highly recommend this fun read.

Be forewarned that this is a novella, so it's shorter than the usual Charlie Parker read. Still, it was well worth the price of admission.

IT STARTED OUT AS A PERFECTLY NICE CHRISTMAS, BUT THAT WENT SOUTH WHEN CHARLIE & DRAKE'S NEIGHBOR'S MOTHER-IN-LAW IS MURDERED. THE 1ST QUESTION ON EVERYONE'S MIND IS, "WHO COULD HAVE DISLIKED THE WOMAN THAT MUCH?" COMPLICATION ARISE WHEN THE ANSWER IS "JUST ABOUT EVERYONE WHO EVER MET HER.

THIS IS A SHORT STORY THAT FALLS BETWEEN BOOKS 6 & 7 OF THE CHARLIE PARKER MYSTERIES.

This is a novella attached to the Charlie Parker mystery series. As a Charlie Parker fan, and having read every novel in the series, I had to read this too. Not very fond of short stores, but if it involves Charlie and her brother and their agency, I recommend it.
