This review is from: Holloway Falls (Hardcover)
Sometimes I'll buy something I have absolutely no clue as to whether it holds nay attraction-- always hoping for the surprise find. This novel was like that.

Baffling combination of characters that somehow...not quite sure HOW...join together and provide a denouement that is bizarely satisfying...

Traces of Ellroy and noir I found surprisingly resonant. I'll be looking for more of this author!

5.0 out of 5 stars Holloway Falls by Neil Cross, Mar 11 2005
By D. Norman "chippermoon@aol.com" - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Holloway Falls (Hardcover)
HOLLOWAY FALLS, featuring a DI, who is a most unusual character, to be sure. Possessed with a brutal sense of retribution William Holloway teeters on the edge of a nervous breakdown throughout all of this well written, mystery/revenge/thriller. Be prepared to meet some oddball characters.

However unstable the nature of D.I. William Holloway may be, his obsessive love for his unfaithful wife remains undiminished. Again his world begins to fall apart when he is contacted by a man who claims knowledge to the terrible secrets of Holloway's past. A prostitute, Holloway has had contact with, is reported kidnapped. A man who is plagued by psychic dreams, offers clues as to the vicinity in which the prostitute may be found.

I particularly enjoyed , the travel descriptions of New Zealand, which occurred three quarters of the way into the book. I was even able to relax a bit, and forget what Mr `Unpredictability` Holloway would do next. But not for long!
