For all you B movie fans, Feb 28 2002
In the tradition of Evil Toons, here is Hollywood Chainsaw Hookers. If you are someone that is into Hollywood high budge movies and is not familiar with the B movie style, proceed with caution. For a B movie, the acting is fairly good in this flick. Poor acting in this movie is far less distracting than in other movies of this nature. Also in the tradition of the B movie style the effects are very low tech and often times way over done, but to the right group of people it is entertainment at its best. So what if twice the amount of blood is spilled during the murder than exists in the entire human body. It's entertainment....remember?
The plot of this movie is way out there, but in a good way. We have hookers in Hollywood murdering people with chainsaws in order to make the chainsaw gods happy. These people also need the fresh blood to keep their leader among the living. The idea of a chainsaw cult is truely unique and pure cheese. A real Fred Olen Ray classic.
If you like Fred Olen Ray's style, grab this movie. If you are affraid of B movies, be very afraid of this movie. It is entertaining from begining to end which is more than we can say about many Hollywood hits. So grab the kids (just kidding due to all the nudity) and enjoy this classic B movie hit.

They get an arm and a leg- what do we get?, April 6 2004
A private eye's case to find a missing girl, leads him into the jaws of a sacrificial chainsaw cult- who want him to be their very special "John".
As a film, it has it's ups and downs. Watching it, even the most crude moments have a provocative side to them. But it always left me wanting more. For instance, the ending. To me, it seemed like such an obvious set-up to have the heroin Linnea Quigley pull out a chainsaw. Especially since her shoulders and entire midsection was blanketed in a trenchcoat, and since we never really know her character's been victimized at all. She could have jumped out with the chainsaw and ended the movie on a more appropriate note. But alas, it flakes.
There is very little plot to this story. And sometimes I want it. A little more dialogue would lend itself to interesting situations affecting the characters, but these people just exist for decoration. Except for Jack, the private eye character. He plays the really worn-out "cop on the beat" character, and with no real passion. Though, there are a few times where he brings some great physicality to the role, include small mannerisms. Such as the way he laughs, or how he reacts to the crazy events happening around him.
I found myself not digging most of the signature chainsaw kills. The one murder I felt actually delivered, was the 'baseball bat' modeling-for-pictures scene. Though the opening seemed to have the best touch, as one girl wraps up her Elvis poster in plastic covering before killing her victim. Also the "Virgin Dance of the Double Chainsaws" is a winner- with Linnea running the chainsaw across her collarline at least twice, blowing smoke coming from the saw right into the camera.
Wanting more is the theme of this film. More life for the cult leader, and not enough energy and ambition from this film.

A T&A & Blood & Guts Masterpiece!!, Jun 4 2003
This movie has everything any red-blooded American male B-movie buff could ever ask for. Beautiful women. Killing. Beautiful women. Comedy. Beautiful women. A wiseacre detective a la Mike Hammer on valium. And all of it on the cheap. If you're one of those PC Nazis, you'll hate it, but if you can take low-brow comedy with a grain of salt it'll be a fabulous movie-going experience.
