Product Description

"Fans of Janet Evanovich will love this spin off of the High Heels Mysteries!" - Jen. B, avid reader

From New York Times, USA Today, and #1 Kindle Bestselling author Gemma Halliday...

Allie Quick has high aspirations - much higher than reporting on the latest celebrity gossip for the L.A. Informer, Hollywood's most notorious tabloid. But if she's going to join the ranks of the real reporters, she's going to need a headline worthy story under her belt. Which is just what she gets when the producer of the trashiest reality shows on TV winds up murdered, and Allie convinces her editor, Felix Dunn, that this story has her name written all over it. Between an aging dance-off judge, a family with sextuplets and triplets, and the star of a little person dating show, Allie has no shortage of reality stars to question. But when she finds herself falling for her prime suspect, Allie's relationship with her editor is suddenly on the rocks, and her life is in danger. This is one deadline Allie can't afford to miss!

2.0 out of 5 stars Great Character, but Too Many Errors Aug. 11 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I love the Maddie Springer series, but I didn't like this book. The mystery was fine and Allie is cute and quirky and she's an interesting character, however the continuity errors drove me nuts. There are so many inconstancies between this book and the Maddie books (including how Felix and Allie met, no mention of her MOTHER being murdered) that it just turned me off. Its not that hard to remember her own history.

4.0 out of 5 stars Pepto Pink Feb. 5 2012

A fun, no thinking book you should have around just for entertainment. The writing style keeps it entertaining, and palatable, although some of the pictures painted, and the details sound more like they were written from a young teen's point of view. Not to tear it apart, but an example would be after the first dinner at a very expensive 'in' restaurant, when they left, Alex walked to a parking garage down the street. Now why wouldn't this restaurant have valet parking, and why wouldn't Alex have used it?

Also, the total immersion in pink things, a cute cat named Fluffykins, the Bikini/mini skirt/ low cut wardrobe for a woman trying to carve out a career as a serious journalist just doesn't all fit together in the real world. But this isn't real - it is a cute and clever fiction, and something that will hold your interest, but not require intense focus. Great for an 'escape' reading day

2.0 out of 5 stars Not for me Feb. 1 2012
By DinaC - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition
I think this book might be ok, but did not live up to the hype it was given by some other reviewers. I ended up being really disapointed and deleted it off my Kindle.

It was compared to Stephanie Plum, and I did not find it anything like that. I found nothing really humorous and I don't know if it is b/c I was expecting something funny and it did not happen, or I had just set the bar too high.

This book might be fine if you go into it with little - no expectations. Heroine had a couple good lines, but I found her moral stance on not writing a womans column b/c it is demeaning, but being a writer for a tabloid a bit strange. But then I am fairly anti-tabloid, so that could be the problem.

Also did not find it believable that the guy would be so nice to her after she trashed him on the front page. I thought it was a little too farfetched, and was not for me.

I loved the entire series. This is a spin off of another series yet it was just as good. When authors do this, the characters start feeling like family. Can not wait for more to come out from this author!
