5.0 out of 5 stars Smooth Story July 6 2012

I'm picky about what I read. As a novelist and short story writer (mostly crime fiction), I spend so much time writing, I don't have time to read the stuff that isn't good. I really like this novella and recommend it highly. Sam Stone does what good mystery writers are supposed to do - he gives us a story strong on character and story on setting. His L.A. setting is more than just names and descriptions of places, it's the smells, the feel, the glamor and grit of the place. This is a well written, tight story and story with a heart and a lead character that's right up there with the best PIs around.

Anyone who enjoys Dennis Lehane or Robert Parker would be well served with this book. A whodunit with a twist.
