I must say that this CD was quite a surprise in terms of how lively, yet calming, it is. The harmonizing on the CD make it fun to sing along to, especially to get those "holiday tensions" out of your system! The newer Christmas songs are especially catchy such as, "No child should ever cry on Christmas", "Everyday will be like a Holiday", "Home for Christmas" and "Christmas must be tonight". The classic Christmas songs are very great too, I don't have to skip over any songs, this is a consistently great Christmas album. I would have to say the music gave me plenty of energy to decorate our tree this year and I am quite sure that I will play it every Christmas for many years to come!

Ist of all this is both Hall & Oates unlike you've probably ever heard them,and secondly you'll be thinking "What took them so long to realize they needed to do this." What comes off here is simply one of the most heartfelt Christmas performances barr none to be recorded. For one, pop artists are realizing their audiences are wanting to hear more than "Santa Clause is coming to town" kind of songs. Bottom line is your going to love this! I believe their version of "O HOLY NIGHT" is truely the finest version ever recorded, and I have favorite versions by others namely Nat King Cole. Note of warning Amazon shows this as an expensive Import, FYE is selling this nationally for 9.99!

every track is so mellow and Daryl's vocals are breathtaking, particularly on Oh Holy Night! John does an excellent job on his Every Child... tune and again on The Christmas Song!! Had this on during Thanksgiving dinner and it was so smooth and relaxing and festive!!!I have 2 -one for the car and one for home!!!!! My first reaction to Daryl Hall & John Oates' Christmas album was some surprise to how good it sounds and how true to Christmas the songs are. No "Frosty the Snowman" types here....The string arrangements complement the album's beginning overture into "The First Noel". Daryl and John's vocals remain first-rate and it stays that way right through the best "O Holy Night" you've ever heard. This album is must for anyone who needs some Christmas music that keeps the real meaning of Christmas right up front where it belongs. The lone exception may be "Jingle-Bell Rock" which is a newer version than the 1983 release.
