5.0 out of 5 stars Embrace The Flats! Nov 23 2007
By Frances L. Arsenault TOP 500 REVIEWER
Format:DVD
I was shocked, surprised and flabbergasted by the negative reviews I see on the web, I thought that Disney's final 2-D film happens to be one of their best works yet; and also I love a good western film.

The animation and backgrounds are pretty, it has a retro appeal to it like some of the other Disney Classics...from the 1950s that is. The film also has an excellent soundtrack with some of today's best Country artists like : k.d Lang,Bonnie Rait and Tim McGraw. The characters are very appealing too; my favorites being Buck, Lucky Jack and Grace.

I was also shocked in finding out that this film will be the last 2-D film from Disney. I have always loved the classic 2-D films ever since I was little and I always will; I mean 3-D's great and all but it's not like fascinating and beautiful as 2-D. So I say those of you who love 2-D feature films like me, I say "EMBRACE THE FLATS, PEOPLE!" Overall I give this film two thumbs up.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not the best, but far from the worst. May 20 2004
Format:DVD
The state of animation at Disney is no where near as awful as most critics would have you believe. However, what is awful is that the company is abandoning the traditional animation market, a market that single-handedly saved the company in the early 90's. The final traditionally animated movie from the company was "Home on the Range" and it's obvious that the company simply didn't care anymore. Fortunately, the filmmakers did. "Home on the Range", while far from the delirious heights of the best Disney movies, is still a fast-paced entertaining film with bright visuals and vivid characterizations. Interestingly enough, the movie that most resembles "Home On the Range" isn't another Disney movie, it's "An American Tail: Fievel Goes West". Both movies have a very similar color scheme and are more comedy than old-fashioned western. "Home on the Range" may not make your spirit soar, but it provides some solid laughs and a very enjoyable outing at the movies.

4.0 out of 5 stars traditional style animation from Disney (3.5/5) Sep 29 2007
By falcon TOP 1000 REVIEWER
Format:DVD
this animated movie is actually pretty entertaining.there's an
abundance of action,a good villain, and a couple of very funny
scenes.the movie is sort of a cartoon western, done in the traditional
animation style.there is lots to keep the viewer entertained.kids
should like it,and adults will probably enjoy it as well.the good thing
about this movie is it has a good story, and is well paced.there are
even some musical numbers,(of course this is not surprising, since most
Disney movies do contain a musical element)for people who might like
musicals."Home on the Range has something for everyone, although some of
the action might be a bit intense for very young children.all in all, a
very good effort from Disney. 3.5/5
