5.0 out of 5 stars Hidden deep within the shadows....IS AN AWESOME BOOK, Sep 26 2005
Ahh.. that was a very good read. I have very recently got into Fantasy genre books, and this book was a good place to start. The characters in this book and the society that binds them is very original. Not many authors are able to efficiently create a complicated world and make it a good story at the same time. Very well written.

I think this book is a great beginning to the story of Drizzt. As for reviewers like Zach who like to think they are smart and enjoy using big words to somehow validate their oppinion, I would say that you think too much and your over-analysis is unfounded and inaccurate.

4.0 out of 5 stars A Good Surprise, July 9 2004
By
Kayvon Zadeh (Bellingham, WA USA) - See all my reviews
This is the first book I've read that's written by R.A. Salvatore and also the first I've read in the Forgotten Realms and to tell the truth I wasn't expecting much. I don't usually read books in big series like Forgotten Realms, and the only reason I read it was because my friend said it was better than the book I was reading at the time and I was eager to prove him wrong. I was however, surprised by how much I enjoyed the book, except for the beggining, which I found slow moving and boring. R.A. Salvatore's portrayal of the dark elf soceity was vivid and cruelly real. The whole soceity seems planned out and carfully thought about. The writing of the book is pretty good, but not great, but that's not stopping me from reading the other two books in the dark elf trilogy as soon as I can get my hands on them.
