I was looking for a cordless, quick picker upper, and was considering the Dyson DC35 Cordless but it was $525.00 a little pricey to say the least, and I came upon this Hoover Linx Cordless Stick for $220.00 - it was getting good reviews so I ordered it. I have to say I'm impressed. I have a lot of bare wood floors with area rugs and it goes from one to another with ease. Sucks up dirt, fine and corse along with pet hair like crazy...stands up on it's own and is very light, maneuverable and easy to use. Did 1300 sq' of bare floor and area rugs and still going on one charge. Battery pulls our of the unit very easy and slips into a charger that I have tucked into my applicance garage out of sight. No special wall hanging needed and the vacuume I store in the closet like a broom outta sight. I've tried the Shark, and the Electrolux cordless and this Hoover Linx beat them hands down.

I very rarely give reviews for products but I've been so impressed with the Hoover Linx that I had to talk about it. Lightweight, good suction, 15 minute battery, and easy to clean out'. It's really a great vacuum. I have a Golden Retriever. He shed like crazy and this little vacuum works magic. I've tried other vacuums (Dirt Devil etc.) but nothing has come close to doing the job. I recently had back surgery so I needed something lightweight, especially on the stairs. This vacuum does everything I need it to. Not only does it work well on floors (hardwood and ceramic) but it also does a very good job on carpet. I hope the battery holds up. It might seem expensive, but it's not worth spending less money on a vacuum that won't do what it needs to do', or break down and lose it's suction in a month (it happened to me). If you need a small vacuum like this one', I'd truly recommend it. The only thing I would have liked; 'I wish the battery lasted about 5 more minutes. Also, make sure that you take out the battery to recharge it after every use. I've run into situations where I've run out of battery after only a few minutes because I didn't recharge it after a previous use. Now I use it until it runs out of battery and then recharge it every time. No problems.

I was very excited about this product, as we have a very spacious apartment, and the cordless feature meant I wouldn't have to worry about the limitations of a too-short cord. With two hairy, shedding cats, the vacuum is used on a daily basis. The generous six-year warranty (plus two years for the battery), combined with all the positive reviews on Amazon made me confident it would be a great product.

We are on our second Hoover Linx cordless vacuum. The first one was exchanged after four months (at the store from which we purchased it) because the red plastic suction tube inside the canister chipped and broke.

Our second Hoover Linx has been a disaster. Less than a year later, the battery life is only about 2/3 of the short 20 minutes it was when the product was brand new. This, despite the fact that we have been very diligent in following the proper lithium-ion battery recharge protocol. I used to be able to vacuum our entire apartment, including using the roller brushes for the carpeted bedrooms. Now, I have to do the job in two phases, and it takes about two hours for the battery to recharge in between.

The same piece that broke on our first vacuum is already showing a hairline crack, so I know that's going to give any day now.

This morning, the motor started causing a burning smell whenever I turned on the roller brushes.

I have been trying to contact Hoover for warranty service all day, to no avail. Because we are past one year since the original purchase, I cannot return it to the store we bought the first one from. Now I can tell that I'm going to be in for a lengthy and inconvenient warranty repair/replace process.

We've only had this Hoover Cordless vac for about a month so this review may change with time. But so far, I must say this is a great cordless vacuum. And I've had about 4 or 5 over the last few years searching for something that actually functions. Best of all, lots of staying power. Runs for about 20 minutes or so at full suction - enough for us to do almost the entire 1st floor. Battery recharges in a couple of hours so that you can do the rest of the house later in the day. I don't see a need for buying a second battery when it charges so quickly. Cannister empties very easily with just a push of a button. Cannister also comes apart for more thorough cleaning and is easy as well. It doesn't handle as well as the Swiffer vac we had to get rid of (it ran for about 4 minutes after a 24 hour charge) but is pretty good. The switch for beater bar is very handy to go from carpet to bare floor and the indicator lights tell you exactly how much charge you have left. And the beater bar seems to pick up everything that it comes across. If, in a year it still runs for 20 minutes on a charge, I'll change this review to 10 stars! I'd love to buy the cordless hand vac that uses the same battery but it doesn't seem to be available in Canada.

ONE YEAR LATER and this vac is working just as good as new. Highly recommended and worth every penny.

18 MONTHS LATER and I'm still reasonably pleased. However, the battery indicator light seems to be a bit wonky. Goes to Level 2 immediately after start-up even tho I know it's fully charged. And gets to the flashing stage faster than it use to. But I think it still lasts as long as it did when new. Can't say for sure but I've never run out of a charge for the area I have to vac.

27 MONTHS LATER and I still recommend this product.
