Product Description

Review

Overall, Hope and Heartbreak in Toronto is a well-written book and Robinson is able to inject his own humour throughout.

(Five Minutes for Fighting)

Robinson has written a fun book for both Leafs fans and any team-but-the-Leafs fans.

(Peterborough Examiner)

About the Author

Peter Robinson is the editor of Prospects Hockey, the official magazine of the Canadian Hockey League, and the golf columnist for CBC.ca. Somehow he manages to balance his work, his family, and his obsession with the Toronto Maple Leafs. He lives in Barrie, Ontario.

Bought this for a big Maple Leaf fan who collects all things "Leafs". Have not read it yet, but I am sure he'll like it.

A personal take on the a fans experiences following the Leafs over many years. Personally anecdotal but doesn't deal with the Problems behind the Team...more the problems of watching the Leafs as a Fan.

HASH(0xa26f67e0) out of 5 stars A must read for any serious Leafs fan. April 15 2013

I have been a Leafs fan since 1989 and I really enjoyed this book. I couldn't put it down once I started reading it - which for me at least is the first test of a good book. Many people are culpable in the demise of this great hockey club over the past 40+ years - the demise being in terms of winning anything as opposed to making money of course (which they still seem to do better than anyone else). All the rogues are dealt with here - Harold Ballard, Kerry Fraser, ownership, management and the corporate types who have taken over the ACC all warrant special mentions. Hopefully things are now looking brighter for Leafs Nation but this book gives a good understanding of where and why it all went wrong.
