Could Have been So Much Better Jan. 3 2013

The Problem with buying big coffee table books like this one in Amazon is that even though you can get a great price, the books are not protected enough for shipping, so half of the time you receive books with dented corners, scratched or even dirty. Amazon should have more care when shipping big expensive books.

In reference to the book itself, It is a beautiful size, A big impressive book that gets your attention. Unfortunately I believe that it could have been so much better inside. The author at the beginning states that taking pictures of horses is not an easy task, that might be true. But I own so many big photography books on horses that are well produced, with amazing pictures of beautiful animals, the animals here look even sad. I am returning the book, I did not find anything new nor unique.

To a lover of horses, no words, perhaps nothing at all, compares
With the touch, the lift-off from sweaty earthiness to ether;
That’s a space outside my comprehension, more of heaven.
And it’s horse-time.
But in moments when I’m not moving in harmony with my horse partner,
The loneliness may be suspended in images that dance, that sing
Like so many pages in Horses: Master Portraits that almost return
My being to the presence.
