Product Description

Product Description

Unavailable in the U.S.! 1993 compilation featuring 19 of the Spud Boys' best. Includes their top 20 hit 'Whip It', plus 'Jocko Homo', 'Mongoloid', '(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction', 'Girl U Want', 'Peek-A-Boo', 'Through Being Cool', 'Working In A Coalmine', 'Gates Of Steel', 'Secret Agent Man', 'Beautiful World', 'Whip It' and more! One of new wave's most innovative and successful bands, Devo was also perhaps one of its most misunderstood. Formed in Akron, OH, in 1972 by Kent State art students Jerry Casale and Mark Mothersbaugh, Devo took its name from their concept of "de-evolution" -- the idea that instead of evolving, mankind has actually regressed, as evidenced by the dysfunction and herd mentality of American society. 19 tracks. EMI.

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant Nov. 9 2001
Format:Audio CD
I'd disagree with the last reviewer in that the hits are the best thing here . Each one a classic , but the remix is a terrible thing to be included . It's mediocre and doesn't go anywhere . Even still I heartily recommend this CD for anyone who is interested in this in listening to something a bit bizarre

5.0 out of 5 stars Listen to the hits...stay for the Remix. Nov. 10 1999
By A Customer
Format:Audio CD
This CD is great,if you want to listen to a good collection of DEVO,best of highlights. Not perfect in its choices, but thoroughly playable. For the hardcore Devonion, appearing only on this collection,is the "Whip It (HMS & M Version)"... a highly amusing remix by "Psycho-Slaphead".(Incorporating "Mutiny On The Bounty" and some killer techno-beats....quite DEVO!)

1.0 out of 5 stars Devo A No Go! Nov. 14 2002
Format:Audio CD
I got this album for a laugh after hearing 'Whip It' but the album was so bad I took it back. If you are a fan of Devo then you will like it.

5.0 out of 5 stars De-evolution is everybody's business Jan. 8 2012

Devo / Hot Potatoes - The best of Devo: 19 of the best tracks from the heroes of all nerd bands. Great stuff. "Whip it" and "Girl you want" are here, but so are their fine covers of "I can't get no Satisfaction" and "Secret Agent Man". Five Star hits CD
4.0 out of 5 stars Singles & Remixes: Culture Club 2005 (Chi) (Rmx) May 3 2013
By Bjorn Viberg - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD
Singles & Remixes: Culture Club 2005 (Chi) (Rmx) is a a best of compilation of Devo and is a mix of post-punk and new wave and contains such tracks as Jocko Home and Whip It. One could easily say that Devo is not a normal pop group and often experiments on the verge between genius and idiocy. Truly a pop band that marches to its own beat. Recommended. 4/5.

5.0 out of 5 stars The evolution of the Devolution Jan. 29 2014
By Chris Henderson - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
This is a well put together compendium of Devo songs, including the brave (and incredibly odd) reworking of the Rolling Stones song, "Satisfaction." Whether this version of the song is appealing may well be determined by a person's age. Someone who never lived in the late 1970s through the entire 1980s or are very familiar with the milieu of those times would likely *not* appreciate this version of the song. The album is a nice retrospective of an innovative band that de-constructed the overblown-ness of the 1970s music scene.
