Sex should be "an experience to be relished from beginning to end," says Lou Paget in How to Be a Great Lover: Girlfriend-to-Girlfriend Totally Explicit Techniques That Will Blow His Mind. Paget (a woman) aims "to empower you as a woman, heighten the intimacy of your romantic relationship, and enable you and your partner to enjoy yourselves in intense new ways." She lives up to that promise with this friendly, titillating, educational, and explicit guide to enlivening your sex life and keeping your man coming back for more. Is he a bad kisser? Learn an easy strategy to get him to kiss you just the way you like it. Does he object to using a condom? Use your mouth to put it on him (a six-step process, complete with illustrations). You'll find information you might not find anywhere else, such as dozens of explicit manual and oral techniques (many illustrated) that will drive him crazy, a comparison of different brands of lubricant for different uses (along with sexy ways to apply it), techniques for anal stimulation, and a guide to sex toys. This book is fun to read, and will certainly open up the sensuality in your relationship. --Joan Price --This text refers to the Hardcover edition.

Review

Praise for How to Be a Great Lover

"An excellent guide for women who want to expand their bedroom skills and put more fun and excitement into lovemaking.  I highly recommend it."
--John Gray, author of Men Are from Mars, Women Are from Venus

"Lou Paget is funny, informative, and classy.  She is dedicated to teaching women to express their sexuality from a place of empowerment and power, not just for the sake of man-pleasing.  Her course taught me some tricks even I'd never thought of!"
--Laurie Sue Brockway, former Editor-in-chief, Playgirl magazine, and author of How to Seduce a Man and Keep Him Seduced

"Finally, a how-to sex book that actually tells you how to.  Women readers will gain skill and confidence, men will gain pleasure and will respond by giving their women more pleasure.  A lot of couples will have much more enjoyable sex because of Lou Paget's down-to-earth, practical, and altogether excellent advice."
--Dr. Bernie Zilbergeld, Ph.D., author of The New Male Sexuality

"Lou gave the Jane staff one of her sexuality seminars, and it rocked!  This book is definitely the next best thing."
--Jane Pratt, editor-in-chief, Jane magazine --This text refers to the Hardcover edition.

5.0 out of 5 stars The best sex how-to book I've ever read., Oct 17 2001
By
"marianne_b" (Seattle, WA USA) - See all my reviews

And I've read more than a few of them. I've been in a couple of long-term relationships, and I really didn't think I had much to learn until I picked this up in the bookstore. One look at the instructions and drawings for "Ode to Bryan" (a technique for manual stimulation described in the book) and I was sold.

Lou Paget has written a book that is refreshingly straightforward, respectful of monogamy and relationships, unabashedly sensual, and undeniably specific and USEFUL. At the same time, it's not gimmicky. The problem I have with most sex manuals is the space they waste on recipes for sexual side dishes, hors d'oeuvres you may serve up once in a while. Lou's book is pure entree--meat and potatoes that you, and your partner, will enjoy every night. In other words, most sex manuals are an issue of "Martha Stewart Living"; this is "The Joy of Cooking."

You may be doubtful about buying a book like this. Maybe, like me, you figure that if you are good enough at communicating with your partner, you don't need it. Well, I was wrong. The fact is that men are not necessarily good at explaining what they like--either because they are shy about it or because they have never experienced great loving. If you think about it, the reverse is also true. Haven't you ever had a lover who introduced you to something new--an incredible, wonderful surprise that you now can't live without?

Whether you are experienced or inexperienced, need help in the bedroom or think you know it all, this book is for you. It's like sitting down with your three best straight girlfriends and/or gay male friends and having a no-holds-barred information-sharing session about what makes men tick (and explode).

If you are open to making your sex life incredible, this will be the best $$$ you've ever spent. (Less than that, at a discount!) Take the plunge. The information you will gain is priceless.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wanna spice up your love life?, Jun 28 2000
If you want to fine-tune your sexual prowess between the sheets, or spice up your love life a little, then this book is for you.

Author Lou Paget doesn't hold back and gives some of the best tips'n'tricks on pleasing your man. I bought this book on a whim - I found that I'd already discovered some of the 'tricks' on my own - and was pleasantly suprised to find some oft-not-talked-about topics of foreplay.

This was an informative (and fun!) read... best read when the two of you are in bed and feeling adventurous and ready to explore. We laughed, and he moaned... and moaned. And begged for more.

If you think sex between husband and wife is boring, dull, unpleasurable then go get yourself a copy of this book. You won't after you've tried some of the tips in this tome.

Get the book, go play, and have fun!

5.0 out of 5 stars Explicit, detailed and valuable, Dec 25 2005

(REAL NAME)
Paget’s "How to be a great lover" provides a lot of explicit and detailed instructions and descriptions. She discussed a broad spectrum of topics from sexually transmitted diseases to oral and manual stimulation. My husband and I are experienced and for us most of the information was not something new. We did learn new things however and it was a nice experience to read a book written by so genuinely interested and experienced in sex woman. We would like to recommended Alan Ritz’ Scientifically guaranteed male multiple orgasms and ultimate sex as well because it provides breakthrough information, which made a great difference for us in bed.
