Book Description

How to Be an Instant Expert provides a plethora of useful information including Web sites, government and industry sources, phone numbers, addresses, bibliographies, reference books, and a helpful Q&A section. You'll learn these sure-fire steps to being an instant expert:
- Immersion-how to drown in data, use the Internet most effectively, acquire the most useful print resources in a hurry, and separate the useful from the irrelevant.
- Notes-how to brainstorm on paper to organize most effectively a wide range of disparate materials.
- Review and Think-how to use your newly acquired knowledge of the topic to re-evaluate the information you have gathered and organized.
- Table of Contents-how to draft a detailed outline of your work that accurately (and entertainingly) covers your subject.
- Chapter by Chapter-how to write each chapter with confidence, using your notes, materials, and other sources.
- Review and Polish-how to put the finishing touches on anything from a 100,000-word book to a 5-minute mini-presentation.

4.0 out of 5 stars A Good Read!, Mar 30 2001
By Rolf Dobelli "getAbstract" - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: How To Be An Instant Expert (Paperback)
If you're an exec whose position requires any writing at all, it might occur to you that before you write an article or a speech you should jump on the Internet and do a thorough topic search - an original suggestion from author Stephen Spignesi. Thanks. You might even already know that you have to check reference materials at the library - another handy nugget of advice. But if your background is in technical expertise, not in word crafting, and you find yourself responsible for actually writing things - a prospect as enticing to you as root canal - then this book is for you. It organizes ideas concisely and simply (Almost too simply: Any sixth grader could use it). While some content appeals only to freelancers (Like a talk with a publishing house acquisitions editor), we [...] recommend the guidance and direction this book gives to would-be or must-be writers who are uncomfortable with writing. You know who you are.
