Our little friend wanders through the trees, witnessing many other animals from chameleons to giraffes as they snuggle together. "Hug," he says, happily, at first, but then with growing despair as he sees there are no hugs for him. The story is told purely by the expression on the little chimp's face as his hopes are built up and dashed again until eventually, with a huge smile, he finds his mum and reaps the reward.
Hug is a clever, unusual book that portrays the art of children's illustration at its very best: a story brought to life with the stroke of a brush through facial expressions and body language that children will immediately understand.
Ideal for sharing with small ones, this lovely book is a warm, comforting read that cannot fail to please. (Ages 1 to 4) --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

Sweet, simple story with precious illustrations,

This review is from: Hug (Board book)
Parents wil find this a more interactive book to read w/ their children, because most of the text just says "Hug!" but it's the illustrations of this baby chimp and other African animals that tell the story. The little ape sees other animals (esp. mommy animals and baby animals) hugging, and wants a hug, too. There will be a lot of pointing, "look at the hippos! look at the zebras!" and lots of hugs when this story is read. Very sweet, and a great goodnight story to read to your kids.

My 15 month old grandson loves this book. We borrowed it from the library, but had to buy our own copy since it's one of his favourites. He loves getting and giving hugs and really empathizes with Bobo who is missing hugs from his mother. He is "reading along" now and smiles at the happy ending.

This review is from: Hug: Book and Toy Gift Set (Board book)
I baught this book for my 2 year old and he loves it. So simple yet so adorable. I got the gift set with the stuffed monkey. Great idea! The pictures are pretty and the little monkey is so sweet walking around wanting a hug of his own. My two year old actually gets sad for the monkey. Great way to teach your child empathy and love with just one simple word, "HUG".
