The aftermath, July 5 2008

In the aftermath of World War Hulk stands a decimated New York City and a ravaged populace as Damage Control begins, with Tony "Iron Man" Stark and S.H.I.E.L.D. helping to clean up the mess. We also see what develops as the Hulk's Warbound are taken into custody, as well as the aftermath of the involvement of Hercules, Amadeus Cho, and co. to boot. This TPB is really only worth checking out if you followed World War Hulk pretty closely (the event didn't seem to have as much overall impact compared to Civil War or currently Secret Invasion) or care as to how the place recovered after the cataclysmic battle between the Hulk and Sentry. If you don't, there really isn't anything here that'll hold your interest. Still, what's featured here isn't bad, and there's pretty good artwork throughout as well. All in all, if you dug World War Hulk and are curious as to how the Marvel universe recovered, Damage Control is worth checking out.

Good Wrap-up Story, Jan 17 2012

So after getting every single World War Hulk book I could find, I finally picked up "Damage Control" to see how the story finished up.
***SPOILERS*** ***SPOILERS*** ****SPOILERS***
So the Hulk is defeated and is taken away, but his Warbound and his troops are still hanging around. His Warbound give up and troops are mad when they find out that Miek was the one who compromised the warp core on the ship back in Planet Hulk and caused the entire planet of Sakaar to be destroyed so they start fighting amongst themselves.
There's also a story about one of the super heroes "finding herself," and coming to terms with the fact that she killed someone. I really hate those stories. I mean come on, you're a super hero in NYC, people die ALL the time in these battles, GET THE HELL OVER IT!!! That story was jut a waste of time, ink and paper.
The last story of the book is just lame! The Chrysler Building comes to life and it also wants to "find itself." So they stand there for the ENTIRE comic and argue with it saying that it needs to stay in NYC and that it can't just get up and walk away. Who at Marvel said, "Oh yeah this is a great idea! A construction foreman talking to a friggin' building for 28 pages! That's what our readers really wanna see! This thing is gonna be flying off the shelves!"
Look, buildings shouldn't be talking, having existential quandaries and be wracked with the pain and doubt and feelings of isolationism. They're friggin' buildings! And they sure as HELL don't get up and walk around and interact with people and have conversations with them! Unless they're named Metroplex, Tripticon, or Fortress Maximus, buildings do NOT act this way! Hell, they don't act AT ALL!!! They're BUILDINGS!!!
***END SPOILERS*** ***END SPOILERS*** ***END SPOILERS***
So even with those minor complaints, this book is still pretty good and if you liked World War Hulk, you gotta check this one out!
