Pretty incredible Hulk stories., Jan 11 2011

Ce commentaire est de: Hulk Visionaries: Peter David - Volume 7 (Paperback)
This is an essential continuation to the story Peter David had started several years before. The issues here continue with the Hulk's association with the Pantheon and deepen the mystery surrounding this "fused" Hulk. David displays his usual strengths as a writer here in all the issues, with excellent characterization, clever dialogue, and good measures of humour and wit thrown in. A particular standout is a story involving a shrunken Hulk attempting to take on the Abomination, beneath the city no less. The art by Dale Keon, when it appears, is delicious, but unfortunately appears inconsistently throughout the volume. Marvel is taking its sweet time releasing these volumes, which I think is unfortunate. By now, at least two per year makes good sense. Whatever the pace, I highly recommend this volume and the entire series of Peter David Visionary collections. These stories have aged well.

Volume 7 of Peter David's run on the Hulk brings a whole new Jade Giant. He's still the strongest one there is, but he now has intelligence and wit to match. After meeting them in volume 6, Hulk becomes a full-fledged member of the Pantheon: a super-secret think tank out to change the world for the better. With his trusty sidekick Rick Jones, Hulk travels to New York to fight the Abomination, but gets shrunk down to 6 inches! He then has to rely more on his brain than his brawn to convince the villain to stop stalking his own wife. After that, he has to deal with the bloodthirsty citizens of New York in a very creepy story. After that, it's a trip to Israel to stop a child who could become the next Hitler, then a trip to the West Coast where Hulk must save an old friend from the deadly Speedfreak! Finally, this volume closes with a trip to the Florida everglades for an encounter with the Man-Thing!
