I didn't buy this book at amazon, which is sad because I would have saved a fair amount of money but WOW, was it ever a good book.
The books describes all of the body's systems using simple language that anyone even someone without any background in science or biology could understand. The illustrations are beautiful computer graphics which are so visually stimulating and enticing they make you want to learn more about the body. It contains highly informative descriptions of the diseases and ailments which each system it describes may fall subject to which allow the reader to understand the fallibility and weaknesses some face. It comes with a cool graphics CD allowing someone to browse over images of the systems and even see videos describing some of the major functions of the system. It's a big book and I would recommend reading it on a table on which you could rest it but it needs that space for all the cool facts it contains. I have learnt so much from reading this book, its incredible. I understand a lot more about what I'm like on the inside (if you know what I mean ha-ha) and can't wait to reread it to go over and consolidate all the new things that I now know. If you want a book that will teach you all about your systems and the illnesses / conditions some people face, look no further! I am 110% happy with this book and though I paid 20 bucks more than amazon is discounting it to readers for I firmly believe every penny was worth it twice over. It's a beautiful book and so long as your not a doctor, the ONLY book you'll EVER need on the human body!
Sweet Reading!

An incredibly illustrative book with descriptions to common diseases organized by anatomical section. Could be used by those used by a first year university anatomy class or those seeking more depth on body functions and diseases. This book is meant to lay flat on a table when read. The enclosed DVD works on a computer with some animation and include a visually searchable straight forward anatomy atlas. You Can't loose with Amazon's price. There is a compact but lest stunning book that accomplishes the almost the same By DK, Human Body ISBN Human Body which is les descriptive but sufficient, It's portable and easier to find topics with

This book have an amazing illustration of our body's anatomical structures, although very basic, this is a good start for someone who is in medical school or someone who is into physiology and health. This book includes pathology subjective and objective insets. I thought that the book should expand more on cells and DNA, but it is okay for basics sake.

I was not satisfied with the CD-rom that came with the book, I thought they should expand more on the videos and include audio narrations. But the CD-rom is okay for basics sake, I give the CD-rom a 1-star but the book a 5-star!

I am looking forward to ordering the upcoming edition of this book this year! And I am sure many things are expanded to a little detail and improvements.

I bought three copies of this book, one for me and one for my brother and one for my sister. It's always a treat to own a great book such as this one!

My kids are interested in science and two of them want to be doctors. A friend had this book which kept their kids quiet during church and looked interesting so I got it too (he is a medic). The accompanying CD is not great so don't buy it based on getting a free CD.

Whenever my kids have a body question, we go to this book. Sometimes we will just sit there and flip pages and I will explain what is happening with the different systems. Seldom have I seen 3-8 year olds hold their attention for so long.

I don't know how many times my kids have asked where babies come from. When I get that question I go to this book and explain it very scientifically to answer their questions in an open and frank way. This book helps with that as well--not that I would have a problem explaining it anyway and my explanations are always blunt and without emotion. My oldest came home after a health class she told me they were learning about reproduction. Her response was "I already know this" to her teacher because I used to Human Body book to explain it well before the school did.

Great book for kids (and likely some adults). I highly recommend it.
