5.0 out of 5 stars Pre-Historic Love Story, Jun 4 2001
By Willow - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Hunters Of The Ice Age Yesterdays Dawn (Paperback)
I read this book ages ago & really enjoyed it. I can't remember the heroine's name (sorry), but the hero is Mamut. The story is set in pre-historic times somewhere in America. The Heroine is lost in the wilderness with her Nephew & 2 Niece's. She is trying to make it back to her own tribe/clan the Bison People. The Hero's village/tribe/clan, the Mamuth People, are short on women after an illness killed most of them. So when Mamut see's her (the Heroine) in the distance, he decides to capture her.

The hero is tortured by a secret from his past & lives with the fear it might one day be revealed. The heroine settles into Mamuts clan & thing's seem to be going well. Mamut feels he doesn't deserve the Heroine due to his murky past deed, so he hides his feelings from her. She is OK with this until a discontent clansman within the clan causes trouble.

The heroine leave's the Mamuth People with her Nephew & Nieces in tow, & makes it back to her own people with Mamut in pursuit. He is forced to leave her with her people as he's outnumbered by her very angry relatives.

All the tribes are gathering to exchange goods & buy supplies. The Mamuth People, who haven't hunted the Mamuth (big hairy elephant) for years, decide they need Ivory tusks so they can buy Brides (remember they lost most of their women). This causes Mamuts secret to come out into the open, & he has to face his past to win the Heroine.

The story is very descriptive. You get a very good feel for the time & the people. The people are written as real, not grunting cavemen & the moral's of that time are very clear, not confused with modern morals. A definite keeper. Happy reading :0)
