Everyone was expecting a bad suite for Mezmerize... But they did it again, System of a Down are the best of their genre !
I have to admit that at the first hearing, I wasn't really into this one...The second time I was amazed !
1- Attack - WO What a great opener ?! Just like The Prison Song of Toxicity 4.5/5
2- Dreaming - Really good one, I sang the chorus after one listening 4/5
3- Kill Rock 'n Roll - They first played this one live a long time ago, slower than the live version... But a really badass song !!! 5/5
4- Hypnotize - A strong song, really deserves the title of SINGLE ! 5/5
5- Stealing Society - Good use of Daron's voice, real badass song! 5/5
6- tentative - good one, nothing more to say 4/5
7- U-Fig - I really like Serj voice on this one !!! 4.5/5
8- Holy Mountains - An old live one too, one of the best song over there... the longest one with 5:28. Amazing one too !!5/5
9- Vicinity of Obscenity - Wow ! A Confusing one ! All styles confused, can't really tell what the lyrics are about...One of my fav 5/5
10-She's Like Heroin - WOW amazing one !!!! Serj and Daron singing en coeur is amazing ! emotionful one ! 5/5
11- Lonely Day - Kind of a rock ballad, but SOAD style ! Daron singing's good... 4/5
12- Soldier Side - Complete version of Mezmerize' Soldier Intro... AMAZING One !

System of a Down have always been, since the beginning, one of my favorite band. And I admit that there style often changes - but isn't that a proof of there enormous talent?
Hypnotize is simply amazing; Beautifull, Peaceful, Raging, Anarchistic, Silent and Extremly Noisy.
(The Only resemblance I see with Bad acid trip is its Oriniality - Nothing sounds like it.)
The songs are all very different from each other, this CD is such a nice demonstration of SOAD talent.
Plus, the lyrics are great - some may find them simple - maybe simple sometimes but defenitly deep and true. And if you really are in the mood and really trust in what is said in this CD, I promess you Shiver all over your body.
System of a Down is, once again, the "deliveryband" of Truth.
Defenitly a Must Have.

I can't believe no one has said anything yet. The follow-up to Mezmerize I got an hour after the store opened on the release date. I was so excited. Now, at first I was bummed out because this was a more melodic and brighter album than Mezmerize but with continous listens I began to see its brilliance. I can't decide which album I like better. Another cool thing is the CD booklets fit together. This CD isn't as bizarre as Mezmerize. The closest it comes to This Cocaine Makes Me Feel Like I'm On This Song and Old School Hollywood is Vicinity Of Obscenity. My favourite track on this CD is probably U-Fig. For anyone who saw them in Vancouver, that Hypnotize song they played was Kill Rock N' Roll. Amazing.

I am a huge System of a Down fan and I have been more than impressed with both their albums this year. When I first heard Mezmerize I was amazed and now with Hypnotize it's the same. Hypnotize is a killer album with killer songs (preferably Hypnotize, Dreaming and Holy Mountains). The last song, Solider Side, is a great ending to the album. They started Mezmerize with that song and it's just so awesome how they ended it on this one. I really enjoyed this album and any System fan who has been with them since the beginning (not since they went mainstream like some people) will really like Hypnotize. It rocks people!
Ps. If you ever have a chance to catch them live do so. I finally got the opportunity this past September and they put on an awesome show! Best I've seen!

System of a Down does not disappoint with this release. There is no filler and the album is one great song after another. I found this album to be a little heavier than Mezmerize and the songs seem to flow together a lot better. I really have enjoyed all of their releases so far, but this is one of my favorites. I think the best thing about System's music is their ability to have very different sounding music within the same album and yet it all fits together. They are very dynamic and very diverse with their overall sound. I find they are never boring and always have something new to offer. I can't wait until the next tour. These songs will surely sound good live. If you like anything this band has ever done you will definitely love this one.

It measures up to the level of Mesmerize, the lyrics are great (whether serious or not /Banana teracotta pie). Best songs-Attack, Dreamin', Holy Mountain ( my favorite, yet another song for the Armenian genocide), The soldier's Side (smells Irak), U-Fig, Tentative, Vicinity of Obscenity. I like the voice of Daron but Lonely Song will sound better sung by Serj as leading vocalist and Daron as backing vocal. I agree with the idea to issue the two parts of the double album separately. Although short in length, the diversity of the songs and the frequent rythm change make you taking some time to fully appeciate the beauty of each album. Mesmerize/Hypnotize is a peak in SOAD's carrer and a must for every fan. Can't wait for the next one!

SOAD released a double album this year. It came out in two parts, as in two seperate releases, dived by several months. Mezmerize was hands down a solid effort that believe it or not, sounded complete. After listening to Hypnotize I can understand why they didn't released Mezmerize/Hynotize as a single album. Hynotize is basically the second half of a really great, epic novel. The two albums are both incomplete without each other. The songs do not fall short in any way. There is always meaning behind the lyrics, and while SOAD are generally pretty serious, they have a lot of fun doing what they do. If you're going to listen to this cd, it's a must that you listen to Mezmerize first.
