Tilda Swinton creates yet another intense and multifaceted portrait of "Woman". Settled in life,somewhat bored, and not yet quite suffocated in the sticky amber of a rich life with nothing left to ask for, save Life, freedom and a new, young, love.Quite a story line to suspend within an essentially italian scenario and beautifully shot and designed. Swinton as a Russian emigre/Affluent Italian business wife, floats through this story effortlessly and portrays the awakened wife with very convincing passion and well complemented with all the cast. Shades of "Like Water for Chocolate", with it's references to the creation of food and the potential for passions therein. The ending so elegant and surprisingly, evading the heavy melodrama so often found in Italian film - I almost feel Nanni Morreti himself, I am sure, would approve of this very stylish, beautifully presented, film, congratulations to Guadagnino. Swinton amazes with her range of character and having just viewed "The War Zone" once again after many years, am more and more entranced by her versatility and capabilities.
