I am me, Oct 20 2005
This review is from: I Am Me (Audio CD)
There are my first impressions. I don't have the album, but I'm listening to a free stream of it as we speak.
Boyfriend: This is the 1st single. It's a catchy, up beat song with rather weak lyrics.
In Another Life: This is a sweet song. I like it alot. It's very mature compared to the songs on Autobiography.
Beautifully Broken: It's very boring and slow. Nice message. Filler
L.O.V.E.: Her voice actually sounds okay on this song! It's kind of rap-ish with a repetitive chorus, but it's still nice to dance too.
Coming Back For More: This is very up beat, a style that seems to fit Ashlee better. The guitars are kind of weird and the lyrics are okay. It's edgey, I guess.
Dancing Alone: This track is kind of weak. The song isn't to bad, it just doesn't really stand out. You'd expect it to be a dance song, but even if I try to shake my booty I just can't. Every time she sings "I'm looking pretty" or "I'm so hot" I get a little peeved. It gets annoying after a while and you find yourself wondering when the end is.
Burnin Up: With this title, I also expected it to be like Sean Paul's "We Be Burnin", but I was wrong. It also makes you beg for the end after a while. It's kind of catchy, though.
Catch Me When I Fall: It starts off with a nice piano and it's quite nice. But then you hear Ashlee's voice, completely interrupting the piano and ruining it. It gets alot better, though. So does the piano. Did I tell you how much I love that piano? Well, I do. The song itself is pretty good and I think it should be the 2nd single.
I Am Me: So, they named the whole album after this song. I hope it's better then her 1st album's title song(Which was the worst song on the whole album). So, it starts off with some cool guitar but once again Ashlee's voice interrupts the whole thing. Then drums kick in and it's a really upbeat song that is very edgey. I was hoping it would be more slow, because it's such a "deep" kind of title(In spite the bad grammer). Ashlee hits alot of high, screaming notes in this and it sounds bad. Wow, I'm so dissapointed with this song! I kept waiting for it to get better and show me why they thought it was so good. Filler
Eyes Wide Open: It starts off with eerie music and the song is slow. But then it gets up beat. Damnit! Ashlee is so good at deep, meaningful, SLOW songs. Her voice sounds pretty bad and the lyrics are good. You know, this isn't a good respite from that horrible song "I Am Me". It's pretty catchy and grows on you, though.
Say Goodbye: It starts off slow, as usual. It's very boring. I finally get a slow song and it's pretty bad!
Worst Songs On The Album: I Am Me, Beautifully Broken
Best Songs On The Album: Catch Me When I Fall, L.O.V.E., In Another Life
It's better then her first album, but why is she so bad at picking album titles?

Late Review (NO B.S.), Jan 5 2008
This review is from: I Am Me (Audio CD)
Don't say my review didn't help you just because you don't agree with it, since I know a lot of people will disagree with me.
Ashlee Simpson is an artist that is confused, and now is making pointless, bland music. There is a reason why her album is one of the worst EVER made (according to metacritic.com)
Ashlee is also having an identity crisis. First, she didn't want to be like her sister at all, dying her hair black... saying she is a punk-rocker, wearing shirts of bands she PROBABLY has never listened to in her life. She also lip-synced on television, and didn't even tell the truth.
Ashlee should either stop making music, or make it meaningful, not to mention she has a horrible voice, and her band that's backing her can't play anything technical at all.
