I give inexpensive books instead of greeting cards. This one fit the bill quite nicely. It's well done, with plenty of New York insider humor. The potential audience is limited, though, to those who have either grown up in the city or visited extensively and have enough Lego experience to recognize the pieces. The humor is wordless and sophisticated in a lighthearted way.

My wife loved it from an artistic POV, but our two young kids liked it - as a kids board book! Funny how it worked for two different audiences equally well.

Witty March 15 2010
By Vivien Li - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Board book
Mr. Niemann makes me laugh every single time. He definitely makes me see mundane things in an entirely new light. I'm not sure actually buying this book is necessary because he has a blog on the NYTimes website called "Abstract City," and this entire lego-themed book was one of his early posts. Check it out first, and I guarantee you'll fall in love with his style. But this is a good way to help support his work, too.

Leg-excellent Sept. 10 2010
By JW - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Board book
I "read" this book in a bookstore and laughed aloud several times. I'm now here to buy it. I'm not sure my baby will appreciate the humor, but I'll enjoy reading it to her.

Wonderful book! March 22 2013

This is a great book for Lego fans and those who love New York and everyone in between. Whimsical, inspired, sartorical, and just the right amount of fun for any reader.

Don't buy the inexpensive Amazon version: they have marks on the book edges as well as a sticker on the back. That is disclosed at the bottom of the product description, but in person is HIGHLY disappointing. Spend the money for the full version.
Visual Haiku June 30 2014

A small and very clever little book, drawn from Mr. Niemann's blog. I bought it for a lego-loving nephew, but decided that it would be wasted on one so young, and kept it for myself.
Cute Book, Could Have Been Better April 20 2014
By Brian Battuello - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Board book Verified Purchase
If you like New York City and Legos, this book is a fun diversion to leave on your coffee table. It is a quick flick-through for visitors. I'm only giving it three stars because it is very short and while some of the visual jokes are hilarious, there are also a few clunkers. It seems like the author could have put a little more thought into it, it looks like something he did in an afternoon with his kid's Legos.
