The cool-toned guitarist Ed Bickert sounds in fine form on this quartet set with fellow Canadians Rick Wilkins on tenor, bassist Steve Wallace and drummer Terry Clarke. Sticking mostly to swing standards (plus Jimmy Heath's "C.T.A.," a Milt Jackson blues and "Somewhere Along the Way"), Bickert varies the tempos while always sounding relaxed and lightly swinging; Rick Wilkins gets in some good spots too.

5.0 out of 5 stars Out of This World May 1 2012

Unfortunately, the asking price for this CD is "Out of this world" as well. I'm glad I already have it.

5.0 out of 5 stars an excellent example of jazz Aug 11 2009

Ed Bickert did one cd with a quartet. This was his finest moment. There's nothing that is revolutionary, just honest to goodness great jazz playing. The interplay with Ed on guitar and the saxophone player is extrodinary. They complement each other quite well. Most numbers are ballads, except CTA103 and the blues my naughty sweety gives to me. The last song dosesn't have the sax player but is still wonderfully done. I wished on the moon I wished were still in print since every jazz fan should own a copy. Let's hope someday they reprint it. If you can find an affordable copy, get it. You won't regret it! One problem is the length. It leaves you wanting more. I would have liked him to do more with this unit but he didn't. Thankfully we have this recording to showcase what a great band this was.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Listening Jan 10 2008

It is always great to discover a treasure such as this. I originally found a cassette copy of this album in the discount bin at the local music shop years ago. The tape is still in my music rotation so the CD will be a welcome addition to my collection. A great mix of relaxing jazz and upbeat tunes. Well done Ed
