Product Description

Country music singer Billy Currington's career has certainly been on a roll. That also was the theme of his number one hit That's How Country Boys Roll which is included among many other hits on this Icon collection. In a little under a decade, he has hit the Top 20 quite often with songs like the CMT award-winner Must Be Doin' Something Right (No. 2), Good Directions (No. 1), Don't (No. 2) and his classic 2009 number one hit People Are Crazy. The Georgia native has also had a successful songwriting career with Tracy Byrd and the legendary George Strait having recorded his tunes, while his solo career continues to blossom and his latest album demonstrates he's also pretty good at drinkin beer!

I love Billy Currington. I have all of his CD's and although I love them all. I keep coming back to this CD. It has a great selection of music that I could listen to over and over again. This man is so talented! If you like Billy Currington this CD will not disappoint.

Not a bad CD. Could have been some songs from his other albums and not mostly from only two.

Slightly incomplete hits collection March 24 2011
By Jim Bagley - Published on
Format: Audio CD Verified Purchase
Since his first album/cd release in 2003, Billy Currington has emerged as a consistent country hitmaker. This compilation - part of the large Universal Music Group Icon series that also includes a new Josh Turner retrospective - includes all eight singles from Billy's first three cds. Also included is Billy's top 30 single "Tangled Up" from 2007 which hasn't been included on a previous cd. Had "Party For Two" (Billy's 2004 hit duet with Shania Twain) and the two chart-toppers from his latest cd "Pretty Good At Drinkin' Beer" and "Let Me Down Easy" been included, I would have given this collection five stars. Instead, these major hits are replaced by album tracks "She's Got A Way With Me" (a beautiful ballad) and "Swimmin' In Sunshine" (a summer romp that doesn't rate amongst Billy's best recordings). "Party For Two" is particularly missed, as it has never been included on a Billy Currington cd.

This is a good first Currington purchase and necessary for most fans so that they can get "Tangled Up" on an actual cd, but it could have been even better.
Equal Parts Love and Fun Dec 20 2012

One thing I love about Billy is he doesn't get stuck in a rut---he can go from a very sad song to a runaway fun song in a heartbeat. But mostly I love his serious side. It was his very first single that caught my ear and warmed my heart. It was "Walk a Little Straighter, Daddy," and it really hit home, because I was raising 4 young sons with an alcoholic father. I made a point of buying the album, and playing that song for my husband and my mother. Then there are the fun ones like "People Are Crazy"! And then he can slide into "Must Be Doin' Somethin' Right." And he did a great light-hearted duet with Shania, "Havin' A Party." Billy's albums are always a lot of fun.

One of Country's Brightest Stars, Compiled April 3 2012

Over the past decade, Billy Currington has established himself as an authentic new voice in country music. Equally capable and adept at party tunes or love ballads, Currington never, ever oversings; his vocal performance is pitch perfect and smooth. While it's premature for a compilation, the budget ICON series has been producing these things for loads of artists. It's a good way to get the first nine singles, with an exception, from Currington's career. The oldest song here is the achingly good "Walk a Little Straighter". This song, with much more depth than most of what's on radio, details the struggles of a boy as he grows into a man, with an alcoholic father as his role model. It found its way to the top 10 back in 2003. This was followed by his first top five hit, "I Got A Feelin'", which was inescapable on radio and CMT for quite a while. Following his self-titled first album, someone had the excellent foresight to pair him with beautiful and talented labelmate/superstar Shania Twain. Their collaboration, "Party for Two", also made the top ten--while it's not on this compilation, this song really kicked his career into high gear. "Must Be Doing Something Right", the first single from album number two ("Doin' Something Right"), soared to number one and was accompanied by a pretty streamy video. This was followed by two more hits, "Why Why Why" and "Good Directions", another number one hit that remains a radio staple to this day. Following this the label released "Tangled Up", available here for the first time on CD. Currington encountered some personal problems at this time and took a break from performing; inexplicably the label pulled its promotion and the song underperformed, vanishing from everywhere but iTunes. "Tangled Up" is still fresh and would be an excellent choice for a single if the label ever leaned that way again. After the aforementioned delay we were treated to Billy's excellent third album, "Little Bit of Everything". First single, "Don't" soared to number two, followed by popular number one hits "People are Crazy" (which took on a life of its own) and "That's How Country Boys Roll". The singles are not placed in order but rather on a shuffle; this is fine as nothing too jarring shows itself. ICON closes out with two album tracks, "Swimmin' in Sunshine" from "Little Bit of Everything" and his superb collaboration with Michael McDonald from "Doin' Something Right", "She's Got a Way with Me". Given the choice I would also have included album tracks "She Knows What to Do With A Saturday Night" and "Heal Me", but those songs provide incentive to purchase their parent albums. Currington has released another album since then, "Enjoy Yourself", which also includes two further number one hits and is highly recommended. Here's hoping that he continues to release good music and remain a radio staple in the years to come.

This is actually the first album I bought of him and I really like his style of music hes very old fashion with a new twist. The album was great didn't have any problems downloading it and didn't have any problems transfering it to a CD.
