It will touch you to the core of your being!, Mar 3 2010
This book is simply amazing. It brings you through all the 66 books of the Bible and gives you the main message of each of these books. The author has written it in such a way that it is as though God himself is writing to you and speak to you directly has you advance in this book.
I also think that this book could be good to anyone - new or old seasoned Christians - to be introduced or reminded that God is always present in our lives and that He wants what is best for us. Often, we might have a tendency to think that He is far away from us but it is not the case. He only wants our well-being.
As the author himself says;
"I'm discovering that the more I long to hear what God is saying in the Bible through each chapter (and by chapter, I mean book), the more I get to know God and to realize He can only tell a good story."
So I am following the suggestion of the author as to taking your time to read this book. Actually, since I am reading through the Bible this year, I am planning to read the chapter related to the book when I am done reading the said book from the Bible. Since I am currently in the book of Joshua, I only have 5 chapters covered from this book but I know that even more interesting love letters are coming my way this year.
Getting this book reminded me of the Father's Love Letter video that came out a few years ago. It moved me then and this book move me as much if not more than the video.
Now let's get back to the review of 66 Love Letters. Each chapter covers a specific book of the Bible and in it you will read encouragements from God about this specific book. He tells you directly, as if he is writing to you a letter (or an e-mail) about the book of the Bible. Then, at the end of the chapter, the author is writing down what he (or we) feels about the said chapter in an honest way. And at the end of the book, the author writes an epilogue in 66 paragraphs which resumes the story everyone needs to hear.
I am also thinking that this book can be use in an home school setting. It is written in a simple way to make your children understand the basic lessons for each book of the Bible. My oldest son, who will turn 9 this year, could easily sit down and read this book with one chapter per week. And he would learn a lot through it.
If you want to discover God and read his love letters, I suggest that you get a copy of 66 Love Letters and read it along with your Bible.
This review was possible because I received a copy of 66 Love Letters from Thomas Nelson.

66 Love Letters by Larry Crabb, Feb 18 2010
This review is from: IE: 66 LOVE LETTERS: Discover the Larger Story of the Bible, One Book at a Time (Paperback)
Have you ever wondered what God wants to say to you in the Bible? Sixty-Six Love Letters isn't just about what the Bible says- it's about what God is saying to you in the Bible. Larry Crabb has taken the theme of God's love and traced how God reveals it to us in every book of the Bible.
Sometimes we can get bogged down in the Bible- especially the Old Testament. Everything in the Bible is there for a reason, and everything reveals God's love for us. In 66 Love Letters, the author has a conversation with God where he is able to ask God questions about life, faith, and God's plan, and God shows him what He wanted us to learn in each of the 66 books of the Bible. The chapters are short and easy-to-read, but give you a lot to think about. Reading this book will encourage you to read the Bible in a new way. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to delve deeper into the theme of the Bible. It is insightful, concise, and enlightening. This book will light a new passion for the Bible and its Author in everyone who reads it.

a conversation with God, Mar 29 2010
I was so intrigued by the idea of author Larry Crabb in writing "66 Love Letters", was excited to get my hands on a copy, and captivated by what I read. I have always thought of the Bible as God's love letter to us and appreciated the relational and nitty gritty way that Crabb summarized the truths God has revealed in His love letter to us. The book has short chapters, one for each book of the bible, and is further organized into 7 parts; providing an overall view and quick glimpse at God's plan for mankind. The more I poked around this book, the more brilliant the organization of it proved to be. Although the chapters are brief, they encourage the reader to delve into God's word and ponder what they find; I found Crabb's writing to convey Biblical truths. I appreciate the honesty and sincerity that is woven throughout these pages; it does not come across as a know-all or absolute in knowledge. It reads more like a diary of the musings and wisdom of a fellow follower. 66 Love Letters has a permanent spot on my book shelf and I have already recommended it to many others. It is definitely worth obtaining a copy.
