4.0 out of 5 stars Raunchy and lively, Sep 2 2002
By
This review is from: Ice, Wind and Fire (Paperback)
I have to rate this book 4 stars because I love Fortunes of War more. If I have not read Fortunes of War earlier, I will definitely give Ice, Wind and Fire 5 stars.
Not as great as Fortunes of War but still an enjoyable and a delightful read, mostly because both Alex and Greg are such adoring characters. It is easy to be engrossed with their adventure which is fast paced. However I find the ending disturbing with Greg raped by one of the scoundrels. Perhaps it's because I like both Alex and Greg and just hate to have something so terrible happening to either of them. Still, it's a delightful and colourful adventurous romance.

3.0 out of 5 stars A raunchy gay adventure, Aug 29 2000
This review is from: Ice, Wind and Fire (Paperback)
I found the story of Alex & Greg while on vacation finding a sunken airplane which begins their adventure trying to stop criminals quite lively and compelling. The many sexy scenes are quite wonderful, although after a while I was finding them a bit tedious. Not even James Bond has that much sex! Even so, this book is a fun read sure to get one's blood pumping (and not just from the fist fights).

5.0 out of 5 stars Shake, Rattle and Roll, Mar 11 2000
This review is from: Ice, Wind and Fire (Paperback)
Investigative journalists (although they seem more like cops or special agents) and long-time lovers, Alex Connor and Greg Farris are taking a much needed holiday in sunny Jamaica when they discover the submerged wreckage of an airplane--containing the pilot's skeleton. On the way to report their find to the local police they are nearly run off the road by gun-toting thugs. The pace never lets up from there. In many ways, ICE, WIND AND FIRE is Keegan's strongest book. He evokes a strong sense of place and time (Disco, anyone?), and the characters of Alex and Greg are sharply-drawn and very real (as another reviewer noted, they bear marked resemblance to the Stone and Jarrat characters in EQUINOX and DEATH'S HEAD--which is not a criticism; whatever works is good). These lads are people Keegan knows inside and out, and their relationship rings true because of it. In the vein of STORM TIDE, this is another breathlessly-paced, action/adventure romance (Romance with a capital 'R') from the writer who is making the genre his own.
