4.0 out of 5 stars Rammstein: to be heard and SEEN! Nov. 7 2001
By P. Bjel
Format:Audio CD
Released September 10, 2001, ICH WILL is yet another welcome addition to the growing number of singles that are tied to the superb Rammstein album MUTTER. A song of a bizarre portrayal of coveting everything, the eerily familiar ambiguity to be found in Rammstein's lyrics abounds. This single includes a live version of the song "Ich Will" (Track 2) which would remind any fans that saw Rammstein in action during their 2001 tour of the glory associated with seeing these guys perform before an audience. All the spectacular effects and sound are captured forever on this single, along with the song "Pet Sematary" (Track 5), not released on MUTTER but performed live on the same tour with Clawfinger, who were their sidekicks. The Ramones wrote this song, obviously after the Stephen King novel (and movie) about utter evil and returning from the dead to commit mayhem. Flake Lorenz, Rammstein's keyboardist, sings this song with Clawfinger in honour of Joey Ramone who died on Easter 2001.
The tracklisting is as follows:
(1) Ich Will (Album Version) (3:37)
(2) Ich Will (Live) (4:17)
(3) Ich Will (Westbam Mix) (6:20)
(4) Ich Will (Paul van Dyk Mix) (6:13)
(5) Pet Sematary (6:31)
(6) Ich Will (Live CD-R track) (4:20)
Westbam do a remix of this song (Track 3); they do not quite do Rammstein honour. As was the case with Rammstein's previous single LINKS 2 3 4, in which the band Westbam remixed two versions of the song, they did a far from ideal job in the case of one particular version. The electrical enhancements of singer Till Lindemann's voice were pathetic and the remix was 'stretched,' in that it was longer than required. On this single, Westbam do the same mistake: the same electrical enhancements of Lindemann's voice are there, and the song is again too long.

4.0 out of 5 stars Up to their usual standards... Oct. 15 2001
By A Customer
Format:Audio CD
I just finished listening to this single, ans I think it's a great compilation of stuff. I think the live version really captures what it's like to be at a Rammstein concert. The other highlight, Pet Sematary, is my favorite live song they've ever recorded. Flake sounds great on it. It's a great song to begin with, but it's cool to hear it re-produced by Rammstein's unique sound. It's neat that they release all these maxis with extra tracks and stuff, but it'd be awesome if they were released in America as well, none the less, I'll go to any lenghts and any heights to get my dose of Rammstein! Also, if you want to learn more about rammstein and other german-rock bands, there's a really cool site I visit a lot called herzeleid.com it's really cool!

5.0 out of 5 stars For Thy Wedding Lady, God Preserve Thee Jan. 2 2002

Format:Audio CD
Shattered glass to embed its way with Depeche Mode's steel drum mystique, 'Ich Will' surrounds techno sounds with the roar of the Rammstein beast. And the natives clamor back "Wir verstehen euch !"
The mixes on the single are do-able for any dance club. I see the crowd sway, sponged hands poised, outlined fingers pointing heavenward, Ich Will scrawled making the life lines of the palm. "Ich will eure phantasie." "Versteht euch, nicht !"
The final cut, the keyboardist's duet, is a change from the baritone lead singer and with Clawfinger as backup, the piece becomes a proper requiem for Easter, the obituary of Joey Ramone.
Add this to your Rammstein collection. Ich will.
