Music lovers can bless the name and aims of Dover Publications, which has made available myriad musical scores that would otherwise be unavailable, at prices that even students can love.
Idomeneo, one of those problematic
operas seria that originally called for a castrato in a principal role, is not Mozart's best, but it still has some great music, including the phenomenal scene in which the various characters lament their cruel fates. As usual with Dover, this score is a reprint of a German original; it offers the complete orchestration, which will make it more useful to the music student than to the working singer.
