Beloved Betty's latest book is almost a non-book, compared to her earlier ones. I loved her memoir, "Here We Go Again," but this is a shallow quickie unworthy of such a great star. There's nothing here that you won't hear Betty say on a talk show. Each chapter, dealing with tried-and-true topics such as aging, dating, costars, and animals, is surrounded by blank pages, contain as few as two or three brief paragraphs, has extra-wide margins, and devotes an entire page to a photo. In short, there's not a lot here.

I'm a big Betty White fan, but I felt let down by this book. It's all familiar territory and she overdoes the "I'm 89!" thing. It's as if someone followed her around with a microphone for a weekend, suggesting topics and recording her off-the-cuff remarks. There's nothing here that will surprise or enlighten. And a minor editing quibble: She frequently underlines words for emphasis instead of using italics, which I prefer. I'm sure the audio version with Betty reading the book would be much more enjoyable, as she is so warm and friendly and has such a pleasant voice.

Disappointing.
