4.0 out of 5 stars One of the best puzzle games on PSP March 29 2012

The Good: Bigger and better than the first, updated visual style is refreshing, accurate liquid physics, controls are responsive and fluid, many levels and rewards to unlock

The Bad: Some sort of USB tilt sensor would have been nice.

There's something about rolling a blob of mercury around that just makes things so fun and refreshing, and that's exactly what Meltdown is. With the first game not being so good Meltdown revives the series and brings a unique experience along the way. With a better graphic style, better physics, and more levels Meltdown will give you hours upon hours of dangerous fun! If you don't know what the heck this game is you basically roll a blob of mercury around by tilting the level.

You can solve the puzzles by splitting the mercury and turning it different colors, and mixing them, to unlock doors, you have obstacles, you can pick up extra rewards, you can make your mercury more solid or fluid, you have enemies in your way etc. The best part about this game is that not one level is the same, and there are a ton to unlock and explore. Some can be a breeze and some can be hair tearingly difficult. This game is also easy to pick up and play for short periods of time or for hours upon hours. There's really nothing bad to say here except that some levels are a bit too hard but that could just be me personally. If you hated the first or were turned off by the bad reviews pick this up and I promise you that you won't be disappointed.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great fun that taxes your PSP abilities July 10 2008

I discovered this game long after its release. I had never played Mercury, so it was a new experience for me. And a great one! I highly recommend you pick up this title, which offers a lot of bang for the buck.

The game is very difficult and taxes your patience at times. But it makes solving levels that much more rewarding. Some levels I still feel are impossible, but it keeps me coming back to keep trying. There are eight stages with 16 levels in each stage (and some bonus levels). Once I hit the fourth stage I didn't expect to go any further because the levels were so difficult. But I finally managed to unlock every stage, which was a great feeling. The nice part is you don't have to solve every level to unlock the next stage -- you just have to save a certain overall percentage of mercury on your current stage.

Even after you've solved a level, you can go back and try to beat the top score, save more mercury or grab more bonuses. The replay value is phenomenal. There are also some fun mini games that will help pass the time, but the meat is solving actual puzzles.

While this is a puzzle game, more of the levels require dexterity than brains to solve. But it's a lot of fun and a game that gets my stamp of approval. I have a lot of games and this is one of the few that keeps me coming back time and time again. For the price you can buy it at today, it's well worth the money and will keep you entertained (and sometimes frustrated) for hours.

5.0 out of 5 stars great game, well executed, lots of levels, great fun! Jan. 16 2007

A great puzzle game and a big improvement over the first "Mercury". Many great levels, minigames. Even the way the level selection works is nice: The levels are represented as little test tubes, when you finish a level the amount of mercury left is shown in the tube. If you manage to save all the mercury, a cork closes the tube. If you also get all the specials and make the high-score, the cork is golden...

5.0 out of 5 stars For Puzzle lovers !!! a must have! March 12 2007

If you enjoyed the first Mercury game, then you'll love Mercury Meltdown twice !

Also if you like puzzle genre and love to solve puzzles you will get engaged with this game.

Mercury meltdown takes the formula from the original Mercury and improved the game play, add new elements, and created a new graphic engine based on cartoon like graphics!
