The first book I bought of the Illusive contemporary art series is actually Illusive: Contemporary Illustration Part 3. I was smitten by the quality of the art and the book itself and had to get the earlier books.

This is an inspiring book with a broad range of illustrations, all brilliantly reproduced on high grade art paper. There are hundreds of artists with their own unique style, creating art work mainly with traditional medium. This book is a visual treat with its beautiful illustrations.

The only text are some interviews, and at the back is the index with the artists' websites.

It's a great resource for illustrators and graphic designers. Well worth the money.

(There are more pictures of the book on my blog. Just visit my Amazon profile for the link.)

Illlusive 2 is one of the most beautiful books on illustration I have seen - it's a book that inspires, amazes and pushes you to go further with your own work. Wide variety of styles. I was happy to see 2 of my favorites, Ian Carr + Kerry Roper. If you're a collector of contemporary drawing books you need to buy this (pick up Vitamin D while you're at it too). Love it.

Kickass talent in this compendium off illustration types. Nice write ups as well on some of the artists. As well inspirational and mind joggily(see differently)) when working on a personal project.

:: Beautiful Inspiration :: Feb. 25 2008

I just hope they publish this every year. I know I'd purchase it annually.

It's similar to its previous version. Hardcover book about 300+ pages.
This isn't a "How To Illustrate" book. It's a "Get Inspired" book. As a broadcast motion graphics designer, this hits most current styles. Each page is like a different mood board to get inspiration from.

It covers collage, vector, traditional and others. And when I say current styles, I don't mean your "mom&pop" small town coupon illustrations. This hits more to the "Out of the Box" big city illustrations. Think clients that might have money and able to risk big (Nike, MTV, Toyota Hybrid, Diesel, etc.)

Awesome buy.

Rave reviews hold up Nov. 17 2009
By Jeffrey L. - Published on Amazon.com
I bought this book based on all of the rave reviews posted here, and thankfully they hold up. Covers the whole gamut of graphic design from vector, paper, installation and collage and offers outstanding examples of creative illustration. I work at a small design studio and the other designers are always coming over to borrow the book. THAT'S how you know it was a good buy!

This book is great. The pages and print are high quality and there are so many great artists in here. Included my former art instructor from UC Berkeley. Great book overall.
A diverse compendium of contemporary illustration Oct. 13 2013

You'll find a wealth of artists in this hefty tome. The styles are presented are quite diverse: photo-realistic, vector graphics, text-based collages, textile and fabric patterns, it's all here.
