When I'm looking for some new artists or my inspiration folder is lacking, I'll check out these books and they rarely disappoint. Sort of an odd "con" out of it, but why is the hardcover cheaper than the paperback? I prefer the latter, but the hardcovers do look nicer on the shelf in my office.
Not exactly a "must buy", but it's most certainly good for thumbing through for inspiration or to find new favorites.

Same stuff we've been seeing in computer arts magazines ad nauseam for years.
Emphasis on over-refined, cutesy, flashy and computer generated imagery.
If you're hoping for something intelligent and inspiring, go elsewhere.
